Today the 9th February 2025 , I went to Bake&Things I bought 8roti skins and 2 Buss up shot, 2 doubles . That roti was from Saturday or Friday, it was hard, oily, stale and HORRIBLE . I called the shop immediately and spoke to the owner/manager. The lady said it was not , but she was lying. At least they could have given it to me for half price. It was like $3.00 each ,the doubles was ok ,not great ,the busses up shot was HORRIBLE too . Their grade is a 10% out of a 100, tasteless . - yvonne goodgridge

What is Worth Choosing

For New York locals and visitors alike, a trip to Bake & Things is an opportunity to explore the depths of Trinidadian flavor. What truly makes this establishment worth choosing is its dedication to authenticity and its wide-ranging menu that offers value and variety.

The undisputed champion of the menu, and the top recommendation for a first-timer, is the Fried Bake & Saltfish. This classic item perfectly encapsulates the essence of Caribbean street food—a fluffy fried bake providing the ideal cushion for the well-seasoned, tender saltfish mix. It is a signature dish that has earned its reputation among local food enthusiasts.

Equally important are the Doubles. Priced affordably, these spiced chickpea sandwiches are a quintessential quick bite and a true taste of Port of Spain's street food culture. For a more substantial meal, consider one of the Roti options. The Boneless Chicken Roti or the Curry Goat Roti are excellent choices for a rich, flavorful, and generously portioned lunch or dinner wrap. Those who prefer a softer, flakier roti experience should opt for the Buss Up Shut preparation. The Curry Goat Buss Up Shut is a popular choice, allowing the torn flatbread to perfectly soak up the savory curry gravy.

For those seeking a full meal, the Dinners are a major highlight. The Oxtail Dinner is frequently praised for its tender, fall-off-the-bone meat, making it a worthy indulgence. All dinners come with two sides, allowing for a customizable plate that can include classic Caribbean pairings like callaloo, pumpkin, or macaroni pie.

Finally, don't overlook the impressive selection of Punches and Fountain Drinks. The Sorrel (a Caribbean spiced hibiscus tea) and Passionfruit juices are refreshing counterpoints to the rich, spicy food. The traditional punches, such as Peanut Punch and Sea Moss Punch, offer a unique, creamy, and nourishing island beverage experience that adds an authentic finish to any meal. Bake & Things stands out in the Brooklyn landscape for providing not just a meal, but an authentic, affordable, and flavorful culinary journey to the Caribbean.
