Barbuto Brooklyn Introduce
For years, New Yorkers cherished Barbuto in the West Village as a staple for rustic, seasonally driven Italian-Californian cuisine. Now, James Beard Award-winning Chef Jonathan Waxman has brought his beloved concept across the river, establishing Barbuto Brooklyn at the stunning 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge. This expansion is a welcome addition to the DUMBO/Brooklyn Heights neighborhood, injecting a dose of celebrated dining into an area ripe for a new culinary cornerstone. The new Brooklyn outpost is already earning a reputation as a potential neighborhood gem and staple, carrying on the original's legacy of great food, a lively atmosphere, and warm, attentive service.
Barbuto’s philosophy, pioneered by Waxman since his days at Jams and the original Barbuto, centers on simplicity and the quality of seasonal ingredients. The menu is a testament to this ingredient-forward approach, blending Italian heartiness with a fresh, Californian sensibility. It’s a place where the classics are perfected and new seasonal creations shine. The atmosphere, described by patrons as "breathtakingly gorgeous" and reminiscent of the "cozy West Village feels," combines industrial elegance with the natural beauty of its waterfront location, making it an ideal destination for any New Yorker looking for an exceptional dining experience.
The culinary journey at Barbuto Brooklyn spans from morning to night, offering a full range of dining experiences. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick weekday lunch, an indulgent weekend brunch with waterfront views, or a celebratory dinner, the restaurant is designed to accommodate. The menu maintains the integrity of the classics that built the brand while also introducing new, locale-inspired dishes like the "Pizza Brooklyn." From cocktails enjoyed at the bar before a meal to a perfectly executed dessert, every detail is handled with professionalism and a passion for hospitality.
The commitment to service and product quality is evident in customer testimonials, which highlight the staff's passion for the menu and ingredients. This high level of service, combined with the spectacular setting and the culinary prowess of Chef Waxman, solidifies Barbuto Brooklyn as a significant and highly valued addition to the Brooklyn dining scene. It represents an elevated yet comfortable spot that feels both familiar and new, making it a powerful contender for one of Brooklyn's most sought-after reservations.

What is Worth Choosing
Choosing Barbuto Brooklyn means opting for a piece of New York’s modern culinary history, transplanted to one of the city's most beautiful settings. It is a place where every element—from the ambiance to the menu and the service—is curated for a memorable experience.
The undeniable star of the menu, and a non-negotiable choice for first-time visitors, is the JW Pollo Al Forno. This roasted chicken with a bright, herbaceous salsa verde is arguably one of the most famous chicken dishes in all of New York City and is a true signature of Chef Waxman. Its juicy perfection and zesty salsa make it a must-try.
The Insalata Di Cavolo, or kale salad, is another celebrated classic. It is a masterpiece of restrained simplicity, perfectly dressed with an anchovy dressing, pecorino, and breadcrumbs, proving that a salad can be a main event. Paired with a glass of wine recommended by the knowledgeable sommelier, as praised by regulars, this combination is a perfect start to any meal.
Lastly, the JW Gnocchi, known for its unique cooking method that results in a crispy, golden crust and a tender interior, is highly recommended. The seasonal variations keep this dish fresh and exciting, but the texture alone makes it a signature item worth seeking out.
Ultimately, what is truly worth choosing at Barbuto Brooklyn is the entire experience. It’s the combination of enjoying superior food, whether it’s the comfort of the Polpettone (crispy beef meatballs) or the fresh delight of the seafood, while soaking in a "breathtakingly gorgeous" cityscape view. Patrons describe the feeling of the space—the open doors to the park and the industrial yet cozy feel—as what sets it apart, ensuring that a visit is not just a meal, but a special occasion that you will "cannot wait to visit again soon." It is, as many New Yorkers are already declaring, a wonderful and highly welcomed neighborhood staple with the potential to be a true Brooklyn landmark.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My family and I stopped in quite impromptu and they were able to accommodate us for dinner. We had a funny conversation with the bartenders while waiting at the bar to be seated, and enjoyed some first class Negronis. Our server also did a great job at conveying the intentionality of ingredients, sustainability concepts in 1 Hotel, and Barbuto’s history. It was a breathtakingly gorgeous space inside the restaurant, on the patio, and surrounding cityscape. We hope to become regulars this coming season!
September 25 · Olivia RivieraWhat can I say. Superior food, even more superior service. A lovely and highly welcomed addition to the dumbo/ bk heights neighborhood where at times can feel like a bit of a food desert. I had a really wonderful experience at Barbuto bk tonight. The space is absolutely gorgeous and they had the doors open to the park which heightened the already beautiful ambiance. From the hostess who placed me to a gorgeous table with a gorgeous view of the park, to my server who was so passionate about the menu, to of course the incredible sommelier Travis who just continuously checked in on my meal and experience, gave me a fantastic tutorial on different wines and was just supremely lovely to speak with - Barbuto BK will be a neighborhood gem and I am confident a neighborhood staple. Cannot wait to visit again soon and bring more friends with me for next time around. And truly, huge shoutout to Travis - you can tell when someone brings in love and warmth to a restaurant space and to its staff. He’s a special one. And with his lead and style, he’s what’s going to transform this space to a beloved neighborhood gem. It brings all the cozy west village feels. Excited for the road ahead, Barbuto. Welcome to Brooklyn! ♥️
September 24 · Deborah⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Just visited the newly opened Barbuto Brooklyn at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, and it exceeded all expectations. The space feels modern yet still carries the warmth and soul that makes Barbuto so iconic. The food was fantastic from start to finish. The Crudo was bright and refreshing, the meatballs were exactly as comforting and flavorful as I remembered, and the roast chicken is a must. We also loved the focaccia and every dessert we tried. It’s such a treat to now have Barbuto in Brooklyn—I can already see this becoming a regular spot. Five stars without hesitation!
September 26 · Doni DigiovanniI live in the area and this is a great addition to the neighborhood. The bread, pasta and steak were delicious. I really like the calamari salad as well.
