★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Very good spot to get Ice Cream while hanging out in DUMBO, especially if you don't want to wait in line for the other creamery across the street. The ice cream was very creamy and delicious. It would satisfy anyone with a sweet tooth. The staff was friendly and served us promptly. The price was affordable. The place was nice. They could have wiped down the small tables more frequently, though. Most people just come in, get their ice cream and head out almost immediately, though. The place is definitely worth revisiting.
August 04 · Keith OlivaresThis was a nice little swanky ice cream parlor. We arrived at about 1140 p.m., and the customer service was A-1. I think I sampled every flavor in the cooler. If you're in the mood for a little quaint late night ice cream treat and it's after 11 a.m., and you're in New York, this is the place to patronize!!!!
June 03 · Craig DamonI stopped by Van Leeuwen at Pier 1 and really liked it. There was no line when we went, and service was quick. You can sample a flavor first, which is nice. I ended up with Mango Rice and a scoop of chocolate in a fresh waffle cone. The ice cream is creamy and not too sweet. Best tip: grab your cone and head outside - there are benches right by the pier with amazing views of the Brooklyn Bridge.
September 10 · Alena BazaMust try, right under the Brooklyn Bridge. Blown away by the freshly made waffle cones and bowls right at the store! So good! Awesome non dairy ice cream options, too.
August 10 · Ellie KangToday I left deeply disappointed and humiliated after visiting Van Leeuwen. I ordered a chocolate milkshake made with oat milk and ice cream. The guy preparing it spilled it twice into the cup, making a total mess of the machine. And still, he handed it to me like it was fine. The milkshake was watery, not even close to what a proper shake should be. It was honestly undrinkable.I politely asked him twice to please make it again properly he didn’t. I was there with my husband, who ordered a sundae that came out perfectly. Meanwhile, I had to throw my shake in the trash. What hurt the most? No one helped me not even the person who looked like a manager. Everyone there was white. I’m Latino, and honestly, I couldn’t help but feel like I was being treated differently. Maybe it was because of my accent, or my background I don’t know. But the lack of care and respect was loud and clear.I’ve been coming to that location for years with my family. I have photos, proof, memories. But today? It felt like everything I loved about this place disappeared. On a day like today — Pride Day, in the middle of New York City this kind of behavior? It’s unacceptable. How did we get here?I’m not looking for a free shake. I don’t want compensation. I want to make one thing clear: every customer deserves a well-made product and equal respect, no matter if they’re Black, White, Latino, Asian, gay, trans we are all equal.I have over 1 million followers on TikTok, and I will share this story not to cancel, not to complain but to remind businesses that this isn’t about a milkshake, this is about dignity.
