Blind Barber Introduce
In a city filled with hidden gems and secret spots, Blind Barber in the East Village stands out as an authentic and exciting destination. This unique establishment is far more than just a bar; it's a true modern-day speakeasy, with a functioning barber shop at the front that serves as a clever facade for the lively cocktail lounge hidden behind it. This dual identity creates an atmosphere of intrigue and exclusivity, making every visit feel like a special event. For New Yorkers in the know, Blind Barber is a go-to spot for a night out that is anything but ordinary, offering a mix of expertly crafted cocktails, good music, and a truly unforgettable ambiance.
The atmosphere inside is both trendy and cozy, providing a comfortable space for socializing and dancing. The bar features a live DJ who sets the perfect mood with a mix of old-school hits and current sounds, drawing a cool crowd of people in their 20s and 30s. The lighting is often low, and the candles create an intimate setting that is perfect for a date or a group gathering. It's the kind of place where you can feel the energy building as the night goes on, turning from a chill lounge vibe into a vibrant dance floor. The concept of a speakeasy—a hidden, exclusive space—is embraced fully here, and it’s this commitment to the theme that makes Blind Barber a favorite among those who appreciate a genuine and well-executed experience.
Beyond the drinks and music, Blind Barber offers a variety of food options to pair with your cocktails, including a selection of pizzas and other bites served until 10 p.m. This thoughtful addition allows guests to enjoy a full evening without having to leave the venue. The combination of a unique concept, great drinks, and a lively atmosphere makes Blind Barber a standout option in the bustling New York nightlife scene. It provides a perfect escape from the ordinary and a chance to "activate" and have a great time, as one enthusiastic reviewer put it.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Oh this is a pretty fun spot. Makes me feel like we're going to a secret speakeasy. They play some nice jams. They had a live DJ playing sounds from the early 2000s and some current sounds when I was there. The crowd was a pretty cool mixture of 20 somethings and early '30s. That's how I remembered it anyway. Drinks weren't too bad. Reasonably priced around $10 to $15. Honestly it gets a little blurry but I had a good time. 🎉🥳🥳🥳
November 21 · Jeffrey UsherI have been to the BB many of nights loaded off the Tequila Sodas, as it is one of the best places to go out and activate in the East Village. It is also a true speakeasy, not one of them fake speakeasies. Y’all know what I’m talkin about. Great date night spot during the week too fellas…But the real reason I’m writing this review is because the culmination of my life's work happened here on Thursday night. I was able to accept my 2023 Yelp Rookie of the Year Award. WE DID IT MOMMA! I DONE IT FOR US!Early mornings and long nights at the keyboard paid off. Swiping my credit card to try a new place to review when I had food at home finally paid off. Telling my friends “sorry I can’t go to the club tonight, I got a dream to chase” paid off.My heart, my mind, and my soul have gone into writing these reviews. My big bros actually sat me down one day to have an intervention saying something along the lines of:"We are worried about you lil cuzzo all you do is write Yelp Reviews... I think you've lost your mind a bit... You were at 9th street espresso for 11 hours yesterday lil cuzzo..."I just sat back, looked them dead in the eyes, and told them:"You're right. I have lost my mind doing this. Like Vincent van Gogh. He dedicated his life to his art and lost his mind in the process. That's happened to me. But f--k it.When that 5 inch tall plastic trophy is my hands, when I have more random Yelp trinkets than I know what to do with, when I can chirp everyone else's food opinions by asking them how many Yelpies they have, when my Kids’ Kids can facetiously ask their little friends in Kindergarten 'Wait, how many Yelpies does your Grandpa have?'... then it will pay. Then I'll be happy I lost my mind."MANHATTAN BEACH!!!!! THIS IS FOR YOU!!!!!!!!! AND MY MOMMA I LOVE YOU MOMMA!!!!!!!!What a great Yelp Elite event though, drinks were amazing and Johnnie Walker was hosting it. Yelp is on a HEATER this year with these events. They can't miss in 2024!IG @jnov_Tiktok @jnov_reviews
March 03 · Johnny NovoOne of the most iconic speakeasy-style bars in the city. They were doing it before it became a hipster craze. You enter through an unassuming door at the back of the barbershop. Inside is quite roomy compared to other hidden bars in the city. It’s a bit less pretentious than most too, which I personally prefer. Overall a cool place to visit for a cocktail if you’re in the area.
May 20 · S Bcame in on a friday night around 10 and literally got groped by the big bouncer at the second door. he was acting weird and rude, didn’t say a word to any of us, and was extremely handsy when patting everybody down. the guy at the front door who checked our IDs was cool but the second bouncer was tweaking. can’t even comment on the drinks or bar service because we were all so weirded out by the unprofessional behavior from that dude that we left immediately.it was pretty dead when we came in though, only a few people sitting around.
April 18 · Andrew ParkThe actual venue I walked right past it lol. That truly makes for a great speakeasy right? It really is pretty inconspicuous if you're not paying attention. The blind barber is actually a barber shop for real, but cross functions as a speakeasy. The images speak for themselves. It is such a cool atmosphere and great time once you get past the barber shop ;)
