Brass Riz Grill Express Introduce
Introduction / Overview
Brass Riz Grill Express, located in the heart of Cambria Heights, Queens, is a local restaurant dedicated to serving the vibrant and comforting flavors of Caribbean and Creole cuisine. Known to many long-time residents by its former name, Brasserie Creole, the establishment focuses on delivering authentic dishes that are central to the region’s culinary traditions. The restaurant aims to be a neighborhood staple, providing a taste of the islands right here in New York City.
The core strength of Brass Riz Grill Express, according to customer feedback, lies squarely in its food. Patrons consistently note that the "flavor is there," praising the authentic taste of the dishes, even when other aspects of the dining experience fall short. The cuisine is hearty, designed to be satisfying and reminiscent of home-style cooking. Specialty dishes like bouillon (a rich, savory stew, often a daily special) and fritay (a plate of assorted fried delights) are key components of the menu, drawing in customers seeking genuine Caribbean fare.
However, the user experience at Brass Riz Grill Express presents a distinct challenge for local New Yorkers. While the kitchen excels in flavor, customer reviews critically highlight a severe lack of organization and deeply problematic service standards. Accounts detail long waits for basic necessities like water and napkins, a perceived lack of attention from waitstaff who sometimes disappear, and even rudeness when issues are brought to the management’s attention. Issues regarding billing confusion and inconsistent food presentation—such as an unappetizing or tasteless plaintain—have also been reported.
Therefore, Brass Riz Grill Express offers a trade-off: deeply flavorful, authentic Caribbean/Creole food that is often nicely packed for takeout, contrasted with a dining experience that can be severely marred by poor, disorganized, and sometimes hostile service. The restaurant is a choice for those prioritizing authentic flavor above all else, and for those who may prefer a grab-and-go option.

What is worth choosing
For users in the New York region, choosing Brass Riz Grill Express is a decision to prioritize authentic, rich Caribbean flavor. Given the significant and consistent negative feedback regarding the service, the following recommendations are structured to maximize the enjoyment of the food while minimizing contact with the known operational issues.
Prioritize the food by focusing on the Takeout or Pickup Option. Since one customer noted the food was "nicely packed" and the main critique is the dine-in service, opting to enjoy the meal at home is highly recommended to bypass long waits and rude interactions, ensuring a frustration-free experience of the excellent cuisine.
What to Order:
- The Bouillon is a must-try, especially on "bouillon night." This rich soup is a cultural staple. However, inquire specifically about the meat content when ordering, as customer experiences suggest this can be inconsistent.
- Order the Fritay. This classic combination of fried foods will showcase the kitchen's ability to deliver authentic street-food-style flavors and is a popular Caribbean choice.
- If ordering vegetable dishes like legume, be aware that one customer found an unexpected bone. It is recommended to double-check such items upon receipt or request specifics on the preparation of the dish to ensure satisfaction.
The core reason to choose Brass Riz Grill Express is the promise of authentic taste. By choosing takeout and focusing on their celebrated savory dishes, New Yorkers can enjoy the best of the restaurant’s culinary offerings without the associated risks of a difficult dine-in experience.

Brass Riz Grill Express Reviews
Ordered a legume she said there was meat in there but turned out to be a big bone I gave it 3 stars cause the flavor is there and the way they pack it was nice. I think this place would be better if they were more organized that big piece of plaintain was a no no for me not appealing and tasteless
July 08 · Lisa LSo today is Monday, n it’s bouillon night, we went to the restaurant and We ordered 2 bouillon, and 1 fritay, first the waitress brought us the 2 bouillon without any meat whatsoever, so when I ask the waitress how come the bouillon didn’t have any meat she said there’s no meat n left. 13 Mn later she brought us some utensils with no napkins n walked off again, So we waited 47 Mn to see if the waitress would bring us some napkins or maybe water. Nada, so we ate the fritay n left the 2 the bouillon untouched, finally we saw the owner n spoke to him about the situation, he acted like he was upset with the service provided to us , n told us he was going to fix it. Then we saw him arguing with the waitress. Shortly after, the waitress came to me, n told me if I knew I didn’t want the bouillon without no meat how come I didn’t return it right away. She was so rude. She even ask me in front of the owner, why did I have to tell the owner about the trashy service she provided to us. she was so rude, even the people that sat next to us, saw the whole thing , walked off. So, the owner at the end told us that we don’t have to pay for the 2 bouillon, then 30 Mn later when no one came to us we went to the bar to ask if we can pay, so the waitress came out and gave us a full bill, n the 2 bouillon cost was included , we laughed, paid for it told the waitress to keep the change, and they will never see us again .

June 05 · Dieusibon HenrySanitation needs to close down this place. Not only it is filthy but the the people who seemingly work there literally dig their bare hands in the food without using appropriate ustensils... such a gross and disgusting place.
