When you choose Breakfast by Salt's Cure, you're not just choosing a meal; you're choosing a memorable culinary experience. The main reason to visit is, without a doubt, the Oatmeal Griddle Cakes. While the "OG" is a solid and unique choice, many customers agree that the flavored varieties are where the magic truly happens. The Banana Nut and Blueberry griddle cakes, in particular, are frequently mentioned as must-tries. The inclusion of bananas and toasted walnuts or fresh blueberries creates a depth of flavor that complements the hearty oatmeal base, making for a truly satisfying dish. The fact that the griddle cakes are served without syrup is intentional; they are moist enough on their own, and the accompanying cinnamon molasses butter provides all the sweetness needed.
Beyond the griddle cakes, the restaurant offers other fantastic comfort food options. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich and the Cheeseburger are solid choices for those craving something savory. The sides, such as the Picnic Ham and Fried Chicken Cutlet, are also worth adding to your order for a well-rounded meal. For a classic American breakfast, the "The Classic" plate, which includes the OG griddle cakes, sausage, and eggs, is a perfect option that showcases the best of what the restaurant has to offer.
What makes the experience truly worthwhile is the blend of high-quality food, a casual atmosphere, and the unique dining concept. The restaurant's popularity means there can be a wait, but this is a testament to the quality of the food. It’s a place that feels like a discovery, a special spot that locals frequent for a reliable and delicious meal. For anyone in New York looking for a unique and flavorful twist on breakfast classics, Breakfast by Salt's Cure is a destination that delivers on its promise of an unforgettable meal, making it well worth the trip to the West Village.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The food was absolutely and positively garbage. The Og griddle pancakes were grainy and lacked any real flavor. The scrambled eggs mediocre at best and the chicken sausage that they gave me tasted and looked like Jimmy Dean’s frozen sausages. If I could give this place zero stars I would . I truly wonder why people queue in line for this place.
September 16 · Gyan QuarteyNo syrup! My friend and I decided to check out Breakfast by Salt's Cure around 12:30pm on a Wednesday. The concept of an oatmeal griddle cake was new to me, so I don't have a point of reference to compare. You order and pay at the cashier, then find a table to sit at. There were no check-ins or water refills, so it's not necessary to leave a 20% tip.I asked the cashier for recommendations, and he said he would recommend the OG because it's the original, or the blueberry, his personal favorite. Since I had never tried a griddle cake before, I thought I should stick to the OG ($10). My friend got the banana nut ($14). I thought the prices were very reasonable for the griddle cakes. However, I would HIGHLY recommend getting something with flavor in it. The OG is served with cinnamon molasses butter, but the portion of butter was tiny, and it was overall very flavorless. This is worsened by the fact there is no syrup. I tried my friend's banana nut, and it was worlds better than the OG. My friend does caution that it is a lot of sweetness, but that's not something that bothers me.I would come back to Breakfast by Salt's Cure to try the flavored griddle cakes on an empty stomach and update my review accordingly.
April 27 · Ashlyn KogaWe were looking for somewhere for pancakes for breakfast and came across Breakfast by Salt’s Cure. A lot of the reviews said they had to wait a long time to get seated but we walked right in on a Tuesday morning at 9am.You order at the counter and then sit down. We both ordered The Classic which is 2 OG griddle cakes, 2 sausage patties of your choice and then 2 eggs in the style of your choice.I’d never had a pancake like this but it was absolutely delicious and so light! They had some sort of cinnamon sugar on them which was just the right amount. We both opted for the chicken sausage which was tasty - however the shape was quite foreign to us as Scottish people 😆We had a lovely leisurely breakfast here sitting and enjoying the February sun and reading our books after our breakfast. The breakfast was so reasonably priced compared to a lot of other places we went too. Have recommended to a few people who are visiting New York soon.
May 15 · Lily Johnstonidk how this place doesn’t have a higher rating. the pancakes are incredible!!!!!I went around 8:30 on a Saturday morning and waited for 15 minutes.the pancakes melt in your mouth. the eggs are good & the chicken sausage is such high quality. i will be back!
August 09 · Savannah DrechslerJaw drop. I love the concept of this place. It’s simple food no frills but served exceptionally well. I came on a Sunday around 11 with two friends we waited about an hour to get a table. Worth noting the great service at the counter and with the wait staff. The food came quickly and fresh and was just so so yummy. We all tried different pancakes and to me the OG was the winner with banana walnut as a close second. Eggs and sausage also perfect. For everyone that is debating waiting in line for pancakes, just follow your heart it’s not that complicated
