Brooklyn Kava Introduce
Introduction / Overview
In the vibrant and artistic heart of Bushwick, Brooklyn, you’ll find Brooklyn Kava, a distinctive local spot that seamlessly blends the offerings of a traditional coffee shop with the unique experience of a kava bar. This establishment isn't just a place to grab a quick coffee; it's a community haven built on the principles of relaxation, social connection, and a departure from the typical alcohol-centric nightlife.
For New Yorkers seeking an alternative to the usual bar scene, Brooklyn Kava provides a welcoming, low-key, and non-alcoholic environment. The primary focus is on kava, a traditional ceremonial drink from the Pacific Islands, derived from the root of the Piper methysticum plant. Kava is renowned for its natural, calming, and stress-relieving properties, offering a sense of relaxation and sociability without affecting cognitive or motor skills in the way that alcohol does—the perfect way to unwind after a busy day in the city.
Beyond the traditional kava shots and roots, Brooklyn Kava is also highly regarded for its full range of high-quality café beverages, including outstanding coffee and a great selection of specialty teas. The overall vibe is best described as casual, cozy, and trendy, making it a great destination whether you're meeting friends, looking for a stimulating, yet chill, place to work on your laptop, or simply hoping to explore an ancient cultural tradition with a modern, Brooklyn twist.

What is Worth Choosing
What truly makes Brooklyn Kava worth choosing, especially for a New Yorker, is its dual identity as a high-quality café and a distinctive social lounge. You're not forced to choose between a great cup of coffee and a unique evening experience.
The menu's diversity is a major draw. For the caffeine enthusiast, you can rely on excellent, affordable espresso drinks and cold brew that a customer once called the “Best cold brew in Brooklyn”—a high compliment in a city saturated with coffee options. The coffee beans used, like Counter Culture's 'Big Trouble' and 'Hologram,' suggest a dedication to quality that matches serious coffee houses.
However, the kava and mocktail selection is the main point of differentiation. In a city where social life often revolves around alcohol, Brooklyn Kava offers a healthier, more relaxed, and community-focused alternative. Whether you’re trying the traditional earthy root for its calming effects or sipping on a specialty Sweet Ginger mocktail or an amazing Horchata, the focus is on a natural, enjoyable buzz. This is a place where you can foster connections and engage in conversations without the typical bar scene pressures.
Finally, the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere is a priceless asset. The consistent recognition as an LGBTQ+ friendly and transgender safe space, along with its popularity among students and tourists, underlines its status as a genuinely non-judgmental community hub in Bushwick. It's an environment where the staff, often highlighted in positive reviews for going "above and beyond" and being "a pleasure" and "informative," strive to make every patron feel at home. It’s a perfect, chill haven for those seeking quality drinks, a place to be productive, and a refreshing alternative to the city's high-octane pace.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’ve been through this place twice now and had an incredible experience both times — but the first time stood out because of the amazing service from Anders. This guy seriously goes above and beyond.I was hoping to see him again on my second visit, but unfortunately, he wasn’t there. The place is still great!
July 19 · Bob EdwardsI’ve been to kava bars around the US and this kava bar has the worst service by far. The white guy with the freckles who served me the other day was beyond rude. He was on his phone the whole shift and acted like he didn’t want to be there. He acted like he was wronged by having to work there and kept checking every POS interaction to see if people tipped or not. Just not great service or vibe. Btw I work in the service industry.. this is just not how you act. Also the space is very small
July 13 · EmmaReally nice barista gave me a fair discount on my triple kava drink. He was honest to tell me it had the same strength as a double after not being able to pour enough out from one of the stored containers. You’re also able to take the drinks to go too which I really like.
March 26 · James BraunGood Kava. Small space, can be a bit crowded. There's also a counter to the outside so you can order without going inside.
April 03 · Dan AfrickGreat menu and delicious pastries. Staff was not as friendly as other reviews had me to believe. I was new to Kava and did not get a lot of assistance. Also, the space was very small.
