The restaurant's atmosphere is a unique and inviting blend of casual, cozy, romantic, and trendy, making it an ideal choice for any occasion, whether it's a quick lunch, a solo dinner, or a special date night. The ambiance is enhanced by a bar on-site, a well-curated wine list, and a great selection of coffee. Patrons have consistently praised the food for its fresh and flavorful qualities, often describing the experience as "paradise" and highlighting the amazing taste of the dishes. However, some feedback points to a fast-paced service style that can, on occasion, feel rushed. Ceci's commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive space is further underscored by its proud identification as a **Black-owned, Latino-owned, LGBTQ+ owned, veteran-owned, and women-owned** business, a testament to its strong community values and dedication to diversity. The menu also features robust sections for **Pesce** (Fish), **Carni** (Meat), and **Pollame** (Poultry), ensuring there is a dish to satisfy every craving. For a lighter meal, the **Insalate** section offers a variety of fresh options, including the **Insalata di Ceci** and the **Pear Salad**. This comprehensive approach to menu planning, coupled with a focus on fresh ingredients and bold flavors, is what makes the food so highly regarded by those who visit. While one patron noted that the portions of the calamari were not huge, they were quick to add that the great taste more than made up for it, underscoring the restaurant's emphasis on quality over quantity. The fair pricing for a Midtown Italian restaurant also makes it a valuable and approachable dining option, a rare find in a city known for its expensive dining scene.
Ultimately, Ceci Italian Restaurant is a place that promises a memorable meal. It has earned a reputation for serving food that is both "amazing" and "soothing," with flavors that are fresh and authentic. The presence of a bar, along with an excellent wine list and a great coffee selection, ensures that a visit can be tailored to any time of day or night, whether you're having a full dinner with a bottle of wine or just stopping by for a quick dessert and espresso. The convenience of its location near major landmarks and public transit, combined with the comprehensive service options and welcoming atmosphere, makes it a go-to spot for any occasion. While some have shared feedback regarding the service, the overwhelming sentiment from patrons is one of deep satisfaction with the food itself, a fact that speaks volumes about the kitchen's consistent quality and dedication to its craft. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The food here was very good. We had Fried Calamari, Chicken Parmesan, and Spaghetti with Tomato Sauce. The Fried Calamari wasn’t a huge portion but tasted great. The Chicken Parm had awesome flavors and wasn’t too rich. It came with Linguine which was very flavorful. The Parmesan cheese they gave us also was very good! There was a seat by the window which is perfect on a nice day.I would recommend this place for a meal in the city! Prices were pretty fair too for Italian food.
April 14 · Andrew MarksThe Food Is So Amazing. I Have No Words. You're In Paradise When You Eat Here. Everything Is So Fresh And Soothing When You Eat. But There Is One Problem And That Is The Customer Service. The Waiters Are Really Mean And Rushful. They Give Attitude. When They Come & Give You The Food, They Like Throw It On The Table.
August 19 · Adam BShort wait for the table. All tables were full. Service moves swiftly. This makes it unfortunate if you want to take your time but good if your going to a show. Make a reservation recommended. Food was good. Quick service doesn't make for time for great displays of food but it wasn't all good. Dessert has a good selection. Only room for one bathroom on each floor. There was frequently a line. Overall the night was enjoyable and I would definitely go again.
December 02 · Dennis OBrienI sometimes order lunch from here for pick up, and the food has always been tasty. We decided at around 7pm on Saturday night that we wanted Italian for dinner; this was the only place (above 4 stars) with available reservations with in the hour. We were seated right away by a friendly hostess.Extensive menu and great wine choices. Again the food was very delicious. We ordered the creme Brûlée for desert which was a bit disappointing. The service was okay (nothing noticeably spectacular though nothing negative). Food came out in a timely manner, and given complimentary bread as we waited. A good choice if in the midtown area. Can accommodate small-medium sized groups from what I've seen.
January 29 · Aria NiHonestly, food was average & price was excessive. Waited about 10 min to get seated when they weren't busy. Service once served was pretty good. Bread came out on a paper plate that you get a hotdog in. Pasta was good but portion was small for $28. Music was honestly awful & a change in the playlist would make it a completely different experience. Wine was very good though!
