For first-time visitors or seasoned New Yorkers looking for the most reliable choices, the menu at Chicken vs Lamb offers several standout items that define its reputation:
The heart of any Halal cart is its signature platter. While the classic Chicken Over Rice ($12.00) is a dependable choice, the Lamb & Chicken Over Rice ($12.00) is often highlighted in reviews as a favorite for those who want the best of both worlds. These plates offer a massive, filling portion, usually served with rice, salad, and the signature white sauce—be sure to request extra white sauce if you enjoy a creamier profile.
For those who prefer handheld options, the Lamb & Chicken Gyro Sandwich ($9.00) is an excellent, portable meal. Served on a hero or pita, it packs a generous amount of meat and salad for a satisfying quick lunch. The menu also offers more specialty items like the Shawarma Over Rice ($14.00) and the larger, more indulgent Chicken Special ($20.00) or Lamb Special ($20.00).
Vegetarian customers can confidently choose the Falafel Over Rice ($12.00) or the Falafel Sandwich ($9.00). For sides, the simple Fries or the rich Cheese Fries are often recommended to complete the meal. When ordering, be advised that the hot sauce is often described as genuinely spicy, so use caution or order it on the side. The consistent presence of both chicken and lamb in various forms—from kebabs to gyros and rice plates—confirms that, regardless of which meat you choose to compare, Chicken vs Lamb provides a complete and fulfilling Halal experience in the Bronx.
The value proposition here is undeniable: a filling, Halal-certified meal at a great price, available late into the night. It is a genuine piece of the New York street food experience, highly recommended for a robust and flavorful meal on the go.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This food truck used to be a solid choice years ago, but the quality has declined. There are new cooks who are not familiar with halal preparation. The chicken over rice was dry, and the portion of white sauce was minimal. Unfortunately, without enough sauce, the dish lacks flavor and can be quite unappetizing. The experience was disappointing, and I would recommend exploring other options for better quality and consistency.
September 18 · Andy SinghThese guys used to be so good,, now they CHEAP OUT on the meat, literally put 90% rice and salad and the taste is just not the same anymore. If you ask them to put extra meat because they barely put any to start with, they will charge you extra $2-3 while no other cart I’ve been to cheaps out on their portions like that. NOT WORTH IT ANYMORE!
August 07 · Hadi RajaVery good food. Food was delicious and fresh. I got the chicken and lamb with rice combo, chicken wings and tenders combo with the fries. The wings are better then the tenders. The combo platter was good and there hot sauce is very hot. I love the fact they have small sauce containers in case you want the sauce on the side or for dipping.
September 25 · Jeannette CodringtonLove this place. Every order is made to order. Located by the hospital so you will get alot of people ordering. I usually call ahead of time. Food is always delicious and they give u a large portion of food. Prices went up from 8 to 11 but still cheapest in the Bronx.
October 23 · sorangie sanchezWhat happened to the beloved Chicken vs Lamb. Quality went downhill in couple of years. Last week lamb over rice was bad, tasteless and funky. Today ordered a burger. Bland. Dried processed patty. Totally flavorless. McDonald across the street is a lot better at half the price. Asked for red sauce on side, didn’t do it. I promise, that will be my last visit there.
