Coney Waffle, Ice Cream and Sweet Shop Introduce
For generations of New Yorkers, Coney Island has represented the pinnacle of summer fun, and no trip to this legendary Brooklyn destination is complete without an unforgettable sweet treat. Coney Waffle, Ice Cream and Sweet Shop, located right on Surf Avenue, embodies the wild, colorful, and over-the-top spirit of the boardwalk. This is not your average ice cream parlor; it is a destination for extravagant, edible art, specializing in desserts that are as visually spectacular as they are delicious.
The history of the Coney Waffle dates back to the 1940s, when Angelina D'Esposito, a local entrepreneur, began selling a unique, handheld waffle confection filled with ice cream to beachgoers and carnival patrons. Her grandson later revived this beloved concept, bringing the "World Famous Coney Waffle" back to its birthplace in Brooklyn in 2022. This iconic dessert, made in a patented machine and shaped like a hot dog bun to be eaten on the go, is the cornerstone of the shop's menu.
Today, the shop is a vibrant, modern sweet-tooth lover's dream, known for its sheer variety, including over two dozen unique ice cream flavors, custom-made ice cream cakes, gourmet fudge, and the highly Instagrammable "freak shakes" (known here as Sideshow Shakes). Coney Waffle is perfectly positioned to serve the diverse tastes of New York, whether you are stopping by for a quick scoop after riding the Cyclone or pre-ordering a massive ice cream cake for a special occasion. Its dedication to creating vibrant, high-quality, and fun desserts makes it an essential stop for any local or visitor in the New York region seeking a truly unique sugar rush.
Coney Waffle, Ice Cream and Sweet Shop is ideally situated at 825 Surf Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11224, USA. This prime location places it right in the heart of the famous Coney Island amusement district, directly across from iconic attractions like the Cyclone rollercoaster. The shop benefits from the high energy and constant flow of visitors drawn to the boardwalk and the beach.
Accessibility from across the boroughs is straightforward, primarily via the NYC subway system, with the D, F, N, and Q trains all serving the nearby Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue station. For those driving, the location on Surf Avenue is easily navigable, though customers should anticipate typical Coney Island parking challenges, especially during peak summer months. Its placement makes it the perfect spot to grab an ice cream cone to enjoy while strolling the boardwalk or heading to the sand. The shop accepts modern payment methods, including Debit cards and NFC mobile payments, making transactions quick and easy for visitors on the move.

The most essential choice, without a doubt, is the Signature Coney Waffle. This is the dessert that started it all—a perfectly shaped, fresh-made waffle bun designed to hold multiple scoops of ice cream. Customers can choose to fill it with classics or explore the unique flavor offerings for a truly customized experience. It’s the perfect, mess-free, walk-and-eat treat for a day on the boardwalk.

The shop offers a wealth of unique options, and a popular recommendation is the combination of Coconut and Lemon ice cream or sorbet, noted by a customer as being "nice, very nice, very good." Other must-try unique flavors that capture the fun Coney Waffle spirit include Monster Cookie Blue, Salted Caramel Pretzel, or Coconut Castaway.
Finally, for a simple yet satisfying treat, consider one of their large, gourmet baked items, such as the 1/2 Pound Cookie, or a pre-packed item like the "BROOKIE" Ice Cream Sandwich, which features vanilla ice cream sandwiched between a brownie and a chocolate chip cookie. Regardless of your final choice, a visit to Coney Waffle guarantees a sweet, memorable, and quintessentially New York dessert experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Was feeling a bit nostalgic so I stopped here to get a funnel cake. I vaguely remember it being puffier and more funnely than what I bought today. Today I got something that most definitely tasted like pancake mix and the texture was also like pancake mix, only the top was a bit funnely; the bottom was just flat and condensed like pancake. For $8.00 and the fact that it was nothing like I remembered I felt really disappointed.
August 29 · Vanessa PierreI had a great experience here. The staff was cool. The recommendation of the staff one was not it. But they gave me a free scoop. 5/5! Get Coconut and lemon. It's nice. Very nice very good 👍
August 06 · Muyinjon TurobovAmazing ice cream treats and flavors. The waffles and Ice cream is very good. I also had the Orange Soda Float.
July 18 · James DillonThe ice cream was delicious, they have 5 different waffle cones and bowls (plain and chocolate dipped with candy coatings). You get 2 flavors, my wife even liked the banana cream pie I got and she hates most things banana. Sorry no pictures, it was warm...and tasty.
June 01 · Matthew SansoneThis place is pretty great with some of the things you can't get in other places. The ice cream is very rich and tasty and kids go nuts in there. The 1/2 a lb cookie is something else. They have other things besides ice cream as well. The reason not a 5 is the place before them had some more lighter flavors and sorbets for adults who can't handle all that sugar.
