East Wind Snack Shop Introduce
Introduction / Overview
East Wind Snack Shop is a true culinary gem in the heart of Park Slope, Brooklyn, a place where traditional Chinese street food is elevated to an art form. This is not your typical neighborhood takeout spot; it is the passion project of Chef Chris Cheung, a celebrated New York native who grew up immersed in the flavors of Chinatown. Chef Cheung brings a world-class culinary pedigree—having worked alongside legends like Morimoto at Nobu and Jean-Georges Vongerichten—to the humble yet profound world of dumplings and small plates.
East Wind Snack Shop has earned a reputation, and numerous accolades, for its dedication to “chasing the perfect dumpling.” This mission means every bite, from the dough to the filling, is meticulously handcrafted and cooked to order, resulting in a product that is consistently lauded as some of the "Absolute Best Dumplings in NY" by critics. The concept is a purposeful nod to the culinary traditions of old Chinatown, blending authentic Cantonese and Taishanese flavors with modern, high-quality ingredients and Chef Cheung’s innovative techniques, such as using Pat LaFrieda dry-aged beef for his potstickers—a truly unique offering in Chinese cuisine.
The menu is intentionally streamlined, allowing for an intense focus on quality and flavor consistency across core offerings like their famous Juicy Pork Dumplings and Shrimp Dumplings (Har Gow). This approach ensures fast service and a quick, delicious bite for New Yorkers on the go, whether you’re stopping by for a solo lunch, grabbing a family dinner, or looking for comforting small plates.
The atmosphere is casual, cozy, and trending, offering a nostalgic and genuine experience. Customers enjoy the subtle touches, like 90s Hong Kong music and dim sum paper plates, which create an authentically Brooklyn-Chinese vibe. East Wind Snack Shop is a testament to the idea that simple food, when prepared with mastery and passion, can be spectacular. It serves as a comfortable, family-friendly destination for lunch, dinner, or dessert, and a go-to for those seeking authentic, high-quality Chinese comfort food in the Park Slope area.
The high standards of the kitchen mean that the food is always prepared fresh and served piping hot. This commitment to fresh, cooked-to-order perfection means that limited quantities are prepared daily, reinforcing the restaurant's dedication to quality over volume—a value deeply appreciated by local customers.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Best har gow (shrimp dumplings) I've ever had! They're huge, made with fresh, clean, and quality ingredients, and come in a dumpling skirt! Really something else. I'd come here just for that. My husband loves their dry aged beef dumplings. Pretty unique. Even though they're small, they are dense and packed! They're surprisingly quite heavy to pick up with your chopsticks. The Sichuan cucumber salad was packed with flavor! I don't like bean sprouts but they changed my mind! Tried their juicy pork dumplings and they were not kidding. One bite and juice was getting everywhere, and I'm not a messy eater. Also got their strawberry bubble tea...yummm. Everything is so delicious, made fresh to order, and served piping hot!! Love that they play 90s Hong Kong music too and serve their dimsum in 90s dimsum paper plates. Super nostalgic for me. They also play videos on random traditional Chinese cuisine, which is interesting to watch.
September 14 · Valery ChenWe wanted to grab a quick bite before my wife had to go to a show in the city for work and I needed to make my way back home. It was the right amount of food and the right amount of time! It was also all very delicious! HEAT HOT but delicious as they are made fresh.
May 11 · Hermes ArriolaCan’t wait to come back to this area! This will be my go to spot for a quick bite. The food was very delicious and fresh The portion size were really good. Ribs were fire and you get a nice amount. Pork dumplings were ok and the cucumbers salad was really good.I love a short menu with not too many items. Makes making a decisions that much easier. Now I feel like I can go back and actually try everything on the menu!
August 01 · Brandon BrownOnly had takeout but very mediocre. Thought it would be better based on the reviews but I wouldn’t consider returning. The noodles were completely stuck together as one noodle blob. I even arrived to pickup earlier than 15 mins and it seems like to sat for awhile. Not worth the money.I had the Shanghai belly noodles.
March 30 · Alec FellmanWhat a meal! We walked in with a large group of ten - five were kiddos with a slew of allergies and tastes. The dumpling shop served us all with delicious flavor and patience. Before I knew it, the kids were devouring their delicious dumplings n rolls and asking for more. My fave - the sweet chili ribs are truly finger-licking deliciousness on the bone. So good. Such yum! Don't leave without ordering the hotcakes for dessert. They put a smile on everyone's face☆Thanks Chef!!!!!!!!!!!
