★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Adjust your expectations, this is a very simple local place, looks like a repurposed private home, and the menu is quite basic. If you are looking for an authentic atmospheric Mexican meal, then this is not your place. But if you want something that is reasonably tasty, not terribly expensive And pretty flavorful then you should give this place a try. We shared a large and pretty tasty burrito for lunch, seems like we were being waited on by local high school kids, but that was totally fine and we got some chips and salsa which was a nice touch. They also have an assortment of homemade salsas that were pretty good and packed with flavor. Not bad… If I’m looking for a simple meal when I’m in the area, I will try it again.
February 29 · ESB NYCI liked it. Maybe I don't know what authentic food is.. but it did the job for Me. Friendly staff and prices not that bad. I however could have used some extra rice and beans.
October 13 · Rowena RamdeoThe food was not very good. If you're looking for authentic mexican food...this is not the place to be. The food is very bland and they charge for chips and salsa. If you do purchase chips and salsa or chips and queso, the portion of the chips and salsa/queso is not fit for bigger parties. It's enough for 2 or 3 people. The rice was soggy? I'm not sure if rice can even be soggy but it was. I didn't taste the beans but they looked very liquidy. The salsa verde was very watery, flavorless, and not spicy at all, neither was the red salsa. The shrimp and mushrooms tasted funny. It definitely wasn't pleasant, we sent it back. The french fries were chewy and almost hard. The honey mustard tasted like chemicals. The tacos looked delicious but the meat was also flavorless and crunchy. The fajitas had beautiful presentation and the portion was great however...again...it was flavorless and there was a pool of grease at the bottom of the dish. The chicken in all the dishes tasted like it was boiled. My grandmother got sautéed shrimp with rice and she said the shrimp was better than the shrimp and mushrooms but the rice was unseasoned. Flan is my favorite dessert. The flan was not creamy as flan should be and it looked dry which should be impossible for flan 💀We sat in the back of the restaurant and the air conditioner was blowing directly on us...like hair blowing and goosebumps. It was not comfortable. We adjusted the fan speed from high to low and it did not change. But the guacamole and pico were very very delicious. The tortillas and chips were homemade and they tasted fresh. The service was pretty good also.
June 22 · Eden WarnerWe were excited to try this place. But to start they did not take our drink order for the first 10 min even though the place was only 1/2 full. We watched as another couple asked for their food to go since they were getting impatient. We then waited 30 min for tacos, a salad and flautas. However when the food come out we were surprisingly impressed. Though not overly spiced. Very well cooked.
October 16 · Ryan GanleyWas in the area enjoying ciders was looking for home cook food and someone recommended el Habanero .First not many food option in the area so I give them a break .I have mix feeling about this place in one part am happy to have a Mexican restaurant in the area but am not thrilled with there menu and preparation. They got some things right and others they can work on . Rice was so bland need more flavor or bigger portion . Salad look very sad just lettuce with nothing else make the plate look boring , they say you eat with your eyes first .Also being a Mexican restaurant they should have Mexican beer or at least Mexican drinks if they did , they never offered. What I enjoyed was hand made tortillas excellent delicious. Salsa was Good but need spicy ones .The decor can use better upgrade make look more festive . Am glad they are there but they need better plate presentation better decoration .Great presentation will make the price feel justifiable.I will visit again to try other option on menu hope they read this review and improve on some areas . Much success !
