This dedication to tradition and quality on both sides of the menu is what has earned the establishment its loyal following and positive reviews. It's a place that tells a story through its food, blending cultures and flavors in a way that is distinctly New York. El Sazon R.D. & Joey Bats is worth choosing for a truly memorable dining experience. The main draw is the incredible food, particularly the Dominican Smashburger. As one review enthusiastically states, it’s a “slammin’” burger, praised for its soft bun, fried cheese, and signature chimi sauce. This dish alone is a reason to visit, offering a taste of authentic Dominican street food that is rarely found in such a convenient and high-quality format. The loaded fries are also highlighted as a full meal in themselves, a decadent and flavorful option that is perfect for those with a big appetite.
The other half of the magic is the Joey Bats menu, which brings a different kind of delight. The pastel de nata, a famous Portuguese egg tart, is described as being "some of the best" outside of Portugal, a ringing endorsement that speaks volumes about its authenticity and quality. This makes the restaurant a must-visit for dessert lovers or anyone craving a traditional sweet treat. The unique ability to satisfy both a craving for a savory, hearty meal and a sweet, delicate dessert in one location is a huge plus. While the review points out an issue with online ordering, it strongly recommends ordering in person, emphasizing that the food is well worth the visit. The combination of its one-of-a-kind menu, great taste, and charming atmosphere makes El Sazon R.D. & Joey Bats a true standout destination in the New York City food scene.

pastel de nata
★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Such a little gem! Great outdoor seating and some of the best pastel de nata I’ve had outside of Portugal.
May 16 · Mashia StiltHeads up: Whatever you do, do NOT order online. For some reason, this kiosk shows up on Grubhub and Seamless, but your order will be sent to the Baxter St. location, not this one. That’s what happened to me, and it was both disappointing and a little embarrassing when the girl at the window told me they don’t accept online orders here. That said, Seamless did refund me, and I ended up ordering at the window - a Double Dominican Smashburger and an order of loaded fries. The burger? Slammin’. Two smashed patties in a soft bun, layered with fried cheese (iykyk), and drenched in Dominican chimi sauce. Honestly, I could’ve skipped the loaded fries - not because they weren’t good, but because it was way too much food. They're basically a full meal: fries topped with fried cheese, fried salami, and chimi sauce. If you’re from Canada, think of it as Poutine with a Latin twist. The Joey Bats menu looked really tempting too. I can’t wait to go back and try the pasteis de nata and the other Portuguese goodies I spotted. If you're in the neighborhood, definitely check them out, but order in person!
