Emmett's Introduce
In a city famous for its classic thin-crust slices, Emmett's stands out as a unique and welcoming destination that brings a taste of Chicago to New York. Located on MacDougal Street, this pizza restaurant is a beloved spot that expertly balances the roles of a cozy bar, a cafe, and a restaurant, all centered around a core menu of authentic Chicago-style pizzas. While the focus is on a style of pizza not typically associated with New York, Emmett's has carved out a loyal following by delivering high-quality, flavorful pies in a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The vibe at Emmett's is casual, cozy, and trendy, making it a perfect spot for various occasions, from a solo meal to a dinner with friends or family. The venue, with its "well lived in" feel, offers a comforting escape from the fast pace of the city. As a full-service bar and wine bar, it provides an excellent selection of beers, wines, and hard liquors to complement your meal. This versatility is a major part of its appeal, allowing customers to come for a full dinner or simply for a drink and a small plate of comfort food. The establishment is also family-friendly, catering to different crowds including college students and tourists looking for a great meal.
Emmett's is perfectly located at 50 MacDougal St, New York, NY 10012, USA. This address places it on the border of Greenwich Village and SoHo, two of the city’s most vibrant and pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods. Its location is ideal for those exploring the area's eclectic shops, historic streets, and lively atmosphere. The central spot on MacDougal Street makes it a convenient dining option for local residents, college students from nearby universities, and tourists staying in the area.
While Emmett's is a small and intimate space, its charm is part of the experience. It is worth noting that reservations are highly recommended, especially on weekends, as the space is often busy and there can be a wait for a table. For parking, paid street parking is available in the surrounding area, though many visitors opt to use public transportation or walk due to the restaurant's accessible location in the heart of the city. The venue also features gender-neutral restrooms, which contributes to its welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

For first-time visitors to Emmett's, the deep dish pizza is a must-try. This is the restaurant's signature dish and the reason it has earned its reputation. The deep dish pies are rich, heavy, and full of flavor, with a buttery crust and a generous amount of cheese and a zesty, fresh sauce. The wait time for a deep dish is a sign of its fresh preparation, and the end result is well worth the patience. The "Magnum P Eye" with ham and pineapple or "The Sausage Classic" are great specialty options, but you can also build your own to your liking.
However, if you're not in the mood for a heavy pie, or just want to try something different, the thin crust pizza is a fantastic alternative. Often called "tavern-style," this pizza is cut into squares and is a crispy, satisfying option that many locals love. The "Hot Papi" and "Hot Girl" are popular choices that add a spicy kick to your meal.
Beyond the pizza, Emmett's stands out for its menu of Chicago-inspired comfort foods. The Italian Beef Sandwich and Chicago-Style Hot Dog are lauded as authentic and delicious. Pairing your meal with one of the many beers from their great selection is a perfect combination. The cozy, trendy, and friendly atmosphere makes this place more than just a quick pizza stop; it's a destination for a full and enjoyable dining experience. The delicious food, attentive staff, and welcoming ambiance make Emmett's a spot that New Yorkers and visitors will want to return to again and again.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I went with my husband on a Saturday afternoon, we did a reservation to prevent falling in finding a table. The place is very small I will recommend book a table if you’re visiting during the weekend. They have multiple pizza pie options; and wine selections also beers. They don’t have or at least I didn’t see in the menu alcohol cocktails. We ordered the deep pizza pie, you have to give them a 30 min time to prep your food. But everything feels fresh, staff is ready to help you out. And the price is right. I will come back to try the regular pizza
September 02 · Slidma PinedaThe pizza was great. The fries were great and the atmosphere was great! Inside felt well lived in and cozy, the perfect atmosphere for eating such good pizza. The staff was friendly acknowledge and even though they were very busy, they were very attentive. The prices are reasonable, the service is exceptional, And if you are a match book collector like Me, they have really cute ones!
September 08 · Harrison C⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️We ordered the Hot Girl pizza and it totally lived up to the name, spicy, crispy, and so flavorful! 🍕🔥Came here for dinner and drinks with my date on a Friday night, and absolutely loved the vibe. It’s a small, cozy spot that’s perfect for catching up with friends or having a casual night out. The staff was friendly, the drinks were solid, and the food was a pleasant surprise. Definitely coming back again.
July 21 · Celia KuoAfter catching a show at the Comedy Cellar, we swung by Emmett's for a late-night snack, no reservations needed. This cozy little spot was perfect for winding down!Walking in, the place had a cool vibe with good music playing—definitely a hit with millennials like us. Their wine selection caught our eye, too. Now, about the food: we couldn’t help but dive right into our orders, so sorry, no food pics. We had the Caesar salad, mozzarella sticks, a deep dish, and a thin crust pizza. Everything hit the spot! The thin crust was super crispy—none of that floppy nonsense—and the deep dish was seriously amazing.Emmett's is a great casual hangout for after-show bites. Definitely planning a return visit!
April 05 · Casey MasonThe pizza was good! We had no wait time on a lunch weekday. Great service, though the pizza came lukewarm. I wish it came hot but it was a hot day out, so I didn't mind too much.I would say one pizza is good for two people to finish. If you have more than two, I recommend getting another.I also want to note the inner seats outside are awfully short. I felt uncomfortable sitting there, and I'm a small person. Overall, I liked eating here. I'd come again to try more items.
