Emmett's on Grove Introduce
In a city famous for its pizza, standing out is no easy feat. Yet, Emmett's on Grove has done just that by bringing a unique and beloved style to the New York dining scene: Chicago tavern-style thin crust pizza. This is not the deep-dish pizza you might associate with the Windy City. Instead, it's a crispy, cracker-thin crust, cut into shareable squares, perfect for a casual and fun dining experience. Following the success of his original Soho location, owner Emmett Burke set out to create a space exclusively dedicated to this lesser-known but equally cherished Chicago classic. The result is a West Village gem that feels like a modern throwback, a "Midwest-inspired supper club" with a distinctly New York flair. The restaurant effortlessly blends a trendy, vibrant atmosphere with the warmth and comfort of a classic American tavern, making it a favorite for both locals and tourists.
Beyond its signature pizza, Emmett's on Grove offers a full menu of Italian-American comfort food favorites, from delectable meatballs to perfectly prepared pastas and even a standout burger. This variety ensures that there's something for every palate, whether you're craving a slice or a full dinner. The restaurant's commitment to quality is evident in every dish, from the perfectly cooked mains to the carefully curated drink list. The bar is a highlight, boasting a great selection of beer, a thoughtful wine list, and a menu of well-crafted cocktails. The overall experience is elevated by the staff's genuine hospitality and attention to detail, creating an environment that feels welcoming and special. Emmett's on Grove is more than a pizza place; it's a lively and sophisticated dining destination that offers a truly unique culinary experience in the heart of New York City.

This pie has earned a reputation for a reason: it's a perfect blend of spicy and sweet, featuring pepperoni, jalapeños, and Mike's Hot Honey. The combination is a fiery yet harmonious flavor explosion that is both addictive and unforgettable. As one reviewer noted, it's a legitimate hit and a must-try for anyone who loves a little heat.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The hostess, Hannah, was fantastic and made our whole visit something beyond our expectations. She greeted us warmly as we all walked in and made sure our table was ready, since we already had a reservation. She made sure our server was also attentive and came right to our table. She is the coolest hostess I've ever met.We had two servers who were also both truly attentive, friendly, prompt, and accurate. The pacing of the meal was relaxed, not rushed, and not delayed. The service and staff here make the experience "next level."We ordered the pigs in a blanket, Greek salad, and meatballs for appetizers. Each was outstanding and perfect for sharing. The pigs in a blanket are larger than what you would expect and the wrap was flaky and seeded. Dipped in the mustard, it was better than any wedding I've ever attended (and that's no joke as they are always the first thing to deplete at weddings for a good reason). The meatballs were an unexpected hit. They were very well cooked, but not dry at all. The sauce was flavorful and not overwhelming, so the meatball itself was the focus of the bite. The Greek salad didn't actually include salad, which was perfect, so the fresh tomato, the ideal "baby bear" feta - not too hard, not too soft, the onion, and the cucumber were the focus. The dressing was lightly applied so as to not be overwhelming. The pizza came out before the pasta. The pizza is Chicago-style, so it is thin crust and cut into single-bite squares, and excellent for sharing. The "Hot girl" pizza was the hit. I can tolerate a lot of spice, and this was spicy. I loved it. Pepperoni, jalapeño, and Mike's Hot Honey. It was legit. The other half was Mona Lisa, which was nice, but not in the class of "Hot Girl."The pappardelle bolognese had the right amount of sauce and was prepared perfectly al dente. The noodles were super long and it was like a pasta clown car when you try to serve it. The noddle just kept on coming and eventually had to be cut. The Cacio e Pepe also was a hit with the group, but not my thing. It's more like an "al fredo."The surprise at the end was the key lime pie which had a very strong lime flavor and ridiculously crumbly and chewy crust, topped with a light whipped cream that didn't drown the pie like some do. The pie center had a perfect texture that was creamy and thick, but not viscous at all.The atmosphere was very trendy with great art strewn throughout and 20th century memorabilia also scattered around, like an old 7-up sign or the rotating Schlitz globe. The Globe is apropos as it is mounted outside the restrooms - just in case you need to take a "Schlitz," I guess. There is great natural light in the rear dining room from a skylight and a display of wine racks in the wall. The bar had a well-curated selection for all levels of palates.I had an IPA on tap with the meal and it was a perfect pairing with the spicy pizza.Overall, this is one of my favorite restaurants now, between the service, the ambiance, and the food, Emmet's on Grove is a "must-see" if you're anywhere in NYC.
June 15 · Cory NotricaHands down, the best pizza and burgers in town! The service was amazing, and the food was out of this world. If you visit New York, make sure to have lunch or dinner here. This is the best pizza I’ve ever had!
August 17 · Aaron GoldsmithQuality and unique presentation of the pizza, pasta and chicken parm. Great service. Celebrated my wife’s birthday and the staff made it special.
July 28 · Peter TseWas able to walk in Saturday 3pm still pretty crowded! Vibes were good, back room was super loud. Took about 35 minutes to get one pizza which was annoying because the pizza was only tepid. everyone in the room was waiting for their pizzas so maybe they had a backlog or change in shift. Pizza was good though, could’ve been warmer and crunchier.
May 10 · H LThe pepperoni and jalapeño pizza hits so hard. Also don’t sleep on their salad. The pizzas with a lot of veggies or sausage can sag a bit too fast and makes it not-as-good as the other ones. Great service but space is a bit too crowded.
