What is Worth Choosing
When exploring the extensive menu at Fisherman's Cove, the choice is abundant, but several categories and specific dishes are consistently worth selecting for a true taste of this Brooklyn gem.
The Lunch Specials are arguably the best way to experience a variety of their most popular items at excellent value. Options frequently listed and highly sought after include the Jerk Chicken Lunch Special, the Oxtail Lunch Special, and the various Curry Goat Lunch Specials. These represent the core of Jamaican comfort food and are perfectly portioned for a satisfying midday meal. Given the potential for a wait during peak hours, ordering a lunch special for takeout can be a highly efficient way to enjoy the food quickly.
For those looking for a full meal beyond the lunch hour, the main Meals section is where the kitchen truly shines. The Jerk Chicken Meal and the Oxtail Meal are legendary among regulars. The Jerk Chicken is described by some as nicely cooked, tender, and falling off the bone. The Escovitch Fish Meal is another excellent choice for seafood lovers, though its availability can sometimes vary. Diners should note that the snapper is specified as a Snapper Dinner Meal and is typically Available Only On Wed-Sat, making it a great weekend treat.
Don’t overlook the Soups section, which includes the classic Chicken Soup and the Friday-only Red Bean Soup. Soup is a cornerstone of Caribbean cuisine, and despite occasional inconsistencies noted in some reviews, many long-time patrons consider the soups to be top-tier when prepared correctly. A warm bowl of soup can be the perfect complement to the main course.
Finally, to complete the authentic experience, consider one of the house-made Drinks, particularly the Limeade or the Special Juice, which offer a refreshing, sweet-tart balance to the spicy and savory main courses.
It is important for patrons to set proper expectations when visiting any bustling neighborhood favorite. While the quality and flavor of the food—the true heart of Fisherman's Cove—is widely praised, the busy nature of the establishment, especially during peak hours, means there may occasionally be a wait, or minor service inconsistencies, as noted in some community feedback. However, the loyal customer base, and the overall praise for dishes like the jerk chicken and generous portions, confirm that for a truly authentic, hearty, and flavorful Jamaican meal in Brooklyn, Fisherman's Cove remains a top choice.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Just look at the so call soup thick gooey that will have chocking trying to swallow, just say you out soup, plantain half green and tough and the fish was small fine looking like little goldfish but never seen porgie so small but. But am more upset about the soup because I was hungry second time I have been severed soup that went to the trash. I always buy soup from fisherman because they actually have the best soup no other placed i ever try came close to them but lately food is not worth it any more.
February 23 · madison stackzPoor product quality. On Saturday January 11, 2025 I bought a patty from the location at Flatbush Junction.. I noticed that one side of the patty was burn ( BUN UP BAD) . I ask the cashier to exchange the patty. The cashier told me that all the patties are of that quality. I then requested a refund. The cashier then call her manager to do the refund.. eventually the manager came and they were able to find one cold patty that was not badly burnt, after searching through over 20 patties. SMH .. They exchange the patty and didn’t even apologize.. SMHI could go on and on talking about this patty but instead I will attached a pic of the patty and my proof of purchase.
January 14 · Omar AnthonyNot fresh and rubbery chicken. I purchased my food on Uber eats. They took forever to prepare it. Different delivery individuals showed up, just to turn away because the food took so long. And when the food arrived, it was drenched in oxtail gravy and white beans, although I ordered jerk chicken, rice & salad. The chicken was so rubbery it was so disgusting to chew. Only thing that was fresh and somewhat decent was the salad. Or lack there was. Never getting my business again. When people order food, make sure you send them fresh food. Because you know you wouldn’t want people giving you old, nasty food. So why m give it to customers.
June 09 · KenyaCurrently on holiday in New York and remembered eating here during my last visit. So we revisited yesterday.Service was a bit abrupt from the lady who took the order. Typical New York Jamaican style I guess. We ordered two lots of Jerk Chicken and two lots of Oxtail medium meals.Prices were a lot higher than in the UK. Just over $60 for the food.In general it tasted good. The jerk chicken isn't done over charcoal like back in London, but the gas grill does a good enough job. However there was nowhere near enough sauce on the Oxtail meals. That seems to be a running theme in a lot of the comments. Also the Oxtails themselves are cut quite small so are around half the size that I would get from a UK West Indian takeaway meal. It's a real shame that they seem to be intent on giving small portions of everything except for the rice, because the food is really flavourful. It's 50/50 on whether I'll eat here again when I'm back in New York in the future. The price just didn't reflect the quality and quantity.
October 18 · Mark KofiChicken is nicely cooked all the way through even into the thigh, falls off the bone easily. A variety of gravies and sauces are available if you want additional flavor. Pretty fair for the price. This is for the Nostrand and Flatbush location if anyone is wondering. Staff were friendly.
