Fortune Palace 富臨門宴會廳 Introduce
For New Yorkers seeking an authentic and high-quality Cantonese dining experience in Brooklyn, Fortune Palace (富臨門宴會廳) stands out as a distinguished destination. Located in the vibrant neighborhood of Bensonhurst, this restaurant has established itself as a premier venue, celebrated for its exquisite traditional Chinese fare, extensive Dim Sum offerings, and particularly, its capacity to host large, elegant banquets and private events.
More than just a standard Chinese restaurant, Fortune Palace (which translates to 'Palace of Fortune' or 'Prosperous Door') positions itself as a full-scale banquet hall, blending comfortable, spacious seating for everyday dining with lavish, wedding-like settings for special occasions. It serves as a true cultural and culinary hub for the community, a place where families gather for weekend Dim Sum and where milestones are celebrated with grandeur.
The culinary focus is squarely on Cantonese cuisine (粵菜), known for its emphasis on fresh ingredients, balanced flavors, and masterful technique. While the main dining area is ideal for a casual meal or small family dinner, the hidden gem of the establishment lies in its dedicated facilities for private parties, making it a standout choice for residents looking for sophisticated large-group dining options outside of Manhattan's Chinatown.

Fortune Palace 富臨門宴會廳 is conveniently located at 8609 20th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11214, nestled in the heart of the Bensonhurst area, just off 86th Street. This location places it within a dynamic and easily reachable part of South Brooklyn, a short distance from other commercial centers.
While the provided data does not explicitly list the closest MTA subway stop to the exact address, the restaurant's proximity to the major thoroughfare of 86th Street suggests strong public transportation access. Locals familiar with the area would likely find the restaurant accessible via local bus routes that serve 20th Avenue and the neighboring 86th Street. For subway riders, the D train runs along 86th Street in this general vicinity (Bay Parkway or 20th Avenue stops are common access points in the area), offering a crucial link to other parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan.
The location off 86th Street makes it a competitive choice for Brooklyn residents who prefer not to travel to Manhattan or the traditional 8th Avenue Chinatown for high-end Cantonese and banquet services. The ample space and dedicated private facilities on multiple levels further distinguish it as a convenient, local choice for hosting significant events.

For New Yorkers in Brooklyn, Fortune Palace 富臨門宴會廳 is worth choosing for several key reasons that distinguish it from standard neighborhood Chinese eateries. It bridges the gap between casual, authentic Cantonese fare and sophisticated, large-scale event hosting.
The top reasons to choose Fortune Palace are:
- Unmatched Event Potential: If you are planning a large family reunion, a significant birthday celebration, or a wedding banquet in Brooklyn, the dedicated private rooms and elegant atmosphere—complete with karaoke options and attentive bilingual service—make this location an exceptional choice. The generous service shown to celebrants, such as waiving a cake-cutting fee, reflects a true commitment to making special events memorable.
- Quality of Cantonese Main Dishes: The consensus among diners is that the main Cantonese dishes, especially the premium seafood and meat selections, are consistently excellent and very well-seasoned. Patrons highly recommend the Walnut Mayo Shrimp, Clams with Black Bean Sauce, and the signature Lamb Chops. For a classic dish done right, the Fried Peking Pork Chops are a must-try.
- A Strong Local Alternative: For residents of Bensonhurst and surrounding areas, Fortune Palace offers an authentic, high-end Cantonese and Dim Sum experience without the need to travel to the denser Chinese restaurant hubs of 8th Avenue or Manhattan's Chinatown. It brings a slice of the traditional, upscale Chinese banquet experience directly to the neighborhood.
While some lighter fare, like fried rice and noodles, have occasionally been noted as less impactful, the excellence of the specialty dishes, coupled with the elegant environment and professional, accommodating service, confirms Fortune Palace as a standout for authentic Cantonese dining and the premier banquet destination in this part of Brooklyn.

Fortune Palace 富臨門宴會廳 Reviews
went on a weekend early for dinner with family! I pretty much know what I wanted to order. Loved the eggplant with beef casserole the host suggested! As of now best place around in 86 st. Besides 8 ave.
July 29 · Y HHad a lovely family dinner during Labor day weekend to celebrate a birthday. We came in at 5pm and had the beautiful wedding-like venue to ourselves. The host was particularly friendly and fluent in both English and Cantonese. He did not charge us for the cake cutting fee, and we loved the complimentary watermelon and taro sago dessert at the end.As far as the dishes go, I would avoid the noodle and chicken fried rice. Unfortunately these tasted bland but everything else we ordered were very well seasoned and I would recommend!- Walnut mayo Shrimp- Clams with black bean sauce- Lamb chops topped with fried onions and peppers- Snow pea leaves with dried scallop- Garlic LobsterI came here for another occasion and recalled also enjoying the fried peking pork chops. After dinner, the host agreed to show us the middle and basement floor accessible by an elevator where private rooms ranged from $650-$3,000. Based on the number of people in your party, it could be the same price as eating at the main dining area. The rooms he showed had really nice vibes or karaoke option. Will definitely consider it for any future large family reunions.IG:Jubes111 YouTube: Jujubi Fam
September 05 · ROSElin831Came here on a quiet evening for dinner with family. The service was smooth because we ordered a head of time before go in for dinner. Each dish came out so fast. Each server was attentive and friendly. The food was good but a bit salty some dishes were bland for my taste. We ordered the roasted duck and the table side presentation was cool, but the duck was a bit cold. The shrimp mayo was delicious my favorite dish of all, the squid dish was good soft enough to chew, the lamb chop was delicious and seasoned well, lobster was good as well and the sweet and sour pork was way too sweet for me but everyone else enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend this place for dinner but also their dim sum is pretty good too.
February 19 · Rafael YauA good spot for dim sum with a decent variety of dishes. Some items were delicious, while others were just average in taste. The service was mixed—some staff were friendly and attentive, while others were not as welcoming. However, the overall experience was still okay, and it’s a nice place to visit if you’re craving dim sum in Brooklyn.
