It is a true culinary gem in the 11214 zip code, celebrated for its extensive and affordable selection of freshly baked goods and satisfying meals.
Golden Bun Bakery is renowned for its signature offerings, including flavorful steamed buns, a variety of mini Chinese bread and pastries, and hearty Asian favorites like chicken lo mein and Singapore noodles. Customers often describe the atmosphere as an inviting, bustling marketplace, where the appetizing aroma of freshly prepared food and sweet pastries fills the air.
The bakery operates primarily as a takeout-focused venue, catering perfectly to the fast-paced lifestyle of Brooklyn residents who value speed and efficiency. Reviews consistently praise the establishment for its reasonable prices and the quality and variety of its Asian dishes. While the bakery can become crowded during peak hours—a testament to its popularity—the swift service ensures that customers can quickly grab their food and be on their way. Whether you are looking for a flavorful start to your morning, a satisfying noodle dish for lunch, or a unique specialty drink, Golden Bun Bakery promises an authentic and highly accessible culinary experience.
Location and Accessibility
Golden Bun Bakery is strategically located at 2180 86th St, Brooklyn, NY 11214, USA. This address places it firmly in the commercial heart of the Gravesend neighborhood, near the border of Bensonhurst, a section of Brooklyn known for its diverse culinary scene and bustling activity. The location on 86th Street, a major artery, makes it a highly visible and convenient stop for local residents, shoppers, and commuters.
As a key local business, accessibility for the community is a priority. The restaurant focuses heavily on its Takeout service model, reflecting the space’s small, busy nature, which typically means limited seating. New Yorkers who are constantly on the move appreciate the ease of access for a quick visit. While the specific details regarding wheelchair accessibility are not explicitly provided in the available data, the bakery’s placement in a high-traffic urban area suggests it is well-integrated into the local transit and pedestrian network. However, potential patrons should note that reports indicate parking can be challenging in this dense neighborhood, and the establishment can get crowded during peak hours. It is a place where you should be prepared to be “a little aggressive and go for it,” as one customer advised, to navigate the occasionally confusing ordering line.

Features / Highlights
The appeal of Golden Bun Bakery stems from its specialized menu items and unique offerings that set it apart from a typical bakery in NYC:
- Freshly Baked Asian Buns: The core specialty, with customers particularly enamored with the flavorful steamed buns and other mini Chinese bread found in the back of the store.

What is Worth Choosing
For New Yorkers in the 11214 area looking for a standout breakfast or a satisfying, quick meal, Golden Bun Bakery offers several compelling reasons to visit. What is absolutely worth choosing here is the combination of freshly baked goods and exceptional value for a quick meal.
Start your day with their HK Noodles. At prices as low as $3.25 for a morning serving, this offers one of the best breakfast values in the neighborhood. Pair this with a selection from their signature baked items, particularly the highly praised steamed buns or the variety of mini Chinese bread—these are the heart of the bakery’s appeal and what keeps regulars coming back. The fact that the bakery doubles as an Asian eatery means you can seamlessly transition to a filling lunch with items like the beloved Chicken Lo Mein or the popular Singapore Noodles.
Another key element is the drink menu. The Iced Coffee is frequently recommended by patrons for its quality. For a more adventurous, sweet treat, the Bubble Drink with tapioca or the unique Fresh Fruit Snow Ice provides a refreshing, affordable indulgence, especially on a warm day. While one review noted that the iced HK milk tea can be inconsistent due to undissolved sugar, the other core offerings and the overall great price point firmly establish Golden Bun Bakery as a must-try for Asian food and bakery fans in Brooklyn. Its recognition for being friendly and fast, despite being crowded, solidifies its status as a convenient, delicious, and budget-friendly local institution.

August 21 · K YGood selection of breakfast food and mini Chinese bread in the back. Great ice coffee and tea egg. Everything is reasonably priced. The line is a bit confusing sometimes so you just have to be a little aggressive and go for it.

February 18 · KLguy 2019Dumplings, chicken lo mein, Singapore mei fun, & assorted buns. Fresh, ready to order to go meal. Bakery is a small spot on 86th st and bay parkway by the D train & B1, B6, & B82. Walking distance from Caesars Bay waterfront. Family friendly and great customer service. Food taste amazing! Four stars though because parking is horrendous at this establishment. Overall a solid gem here in Bensonhurst.
January 14 · AVI use to get my bakery noodles for lunch here and always get my usuals. Today during checkout, the lady told me my meal was $7 when my meal is always the same price. She lied to me to have me pay the extra 50 cents. Always check the pricing on the counter or window of the food. She did not even say sorry to me or anything. Horrible will not be coming back.
