GupShup Introduce
In the dynamic heart of New York City's Gramercy neighborhood, GupShup emerges as more than just an Indian restaurant; it is a destination for a full-sensory experience. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The restaurant looks great, and I was pleasantly surprised to find roadside parking easily available nearby — a big plus in NYC. It’s also kids-friendly, and I was able to get a reservation on the same day (Sunday evening), which was convenient. They have an impressive cocktail menu. My own drink wasn’t to my taste, but my friends and family really enjoyed theirs. The mango lassi, served in a beautiful copper cup, was a highlight. The menu itself isn’t huge, but it offers a good variety. For appetizers, we tried the sizzler and butter chicken wings — both were enjoyable. Unfortunately, all the biryanis were sold out, so we ordered Rajasthani Khadi, Achari Chicken, and Nizaam’s Haleem instead. The platter was underwhelming, so I’d recommend skipping that. The standout dishes were definitely the Achari Chicken and the Rajasthani Khadi — it was my first time having okra in khadi, and not only was the taste excellent, but the presentation was great too. The chef also surprised us with complimentary daal, which was a nice touch.Portion sizes were generous and enough for four adults and three kids. Overall, the preparation was good, though I’m not sure the price fully matches the taste considering the many dining options NYC has to offer. One suggestion: the restaurant should serve larger plates for the main course instead of the small appetizer plates they provided. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, plus a second-floor area. It’s both kids-friendly and wheelchair accessible.Overall: A stylish spot with great cocktails and a few standout dishes. Worth a try, especially if you’re looking for something different, but go in with the expectation that value for money might vary depending on what you order.
September 04 · Utsav SrivastavaFor amazing Indian food in the union square area this is the spot. This spot is ideal for small groups of friends or date night with that special someone who enjoys Indian food vibes were great. Staff was friendly bathrooms were clean and the chef came by to greet us and as us how our meal was, amazing experience.Did their restaurant week menu which did not disappoint. Highlights focusing on the two main dishes lamb was one and butter chicken was the other. Both were with tons of flavor a bit of a kick that just kept you wanting more and the naan was a perfect combo to soak up all the sauces. Dessert was also great and really hit the nail on the head, without being too sweet!
August 11 · Benjamin LWell what can I say about this place? Wish words were enough to justify my review and praise !!We tried to get a reservation at The Bungalow, but unfortunately, we never got it. After emailing them, they suggested we try GupShup—and believe me, it turned out to be the best Indian food I’ve ever had in the USA. I’ve dined at several high-end Indian restaurants across the country, but this was truly something extraordinary. We arrived right on time for our reservation in the evening. The ambiance and decor were stunning, and we were warmly greeted by Daniel, which set a wonderful tone for the night. We started with the kokum soda, and I was simply blown away. For the main course, we had butter chicken, chettinad chicken, and paneer butter masala. Every dish was exceptionally flavorful and cooked to perfection. We also tried the dahi kebab, which were absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the meal ended on a high note with falooda and gajar halwa ice cream—again, simply mind-blowing.We loved it so much, we went back the very next day! This time we ordered appetizers, vada pav, biryani, and saag paneer—each dish was just as incredible.I can confidently say that this is the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to in the USA. Anytime I return to New York, this place will be a must-visit.Special thanks to Mr. Daniel for the warm welcome and for taking such great care of us.Thank you to the entire team—hoping you open a location in Los Angeles someday!Lots of good wishes to the entire team,– Amit N
July 14 · Amit Naik(If I could give 10 stars, I would!) My experience at Gupshup was fantastic from start to finish — right from making the reservation to the very last bite of dessert. We tried multiple items from the menu, starting with the appetizers: Tandoori Cauliflower, Amritsari Chole Tikki, and Dahi ke Kebab. The Tandoori Cauliflower stole the show with its stunning presentation and that tangy chutney — an absolute must-try! The Amritsari Chole Tikki came next in my list of favorites, full of flavor and texture. From the large plates, we had Rajasthani Kadhi, Butter Paneer Masala, Garlic Naan, and Onion Chilli Cheese Kulcha. The crispy fried okra in the Kadhi was such a pleasant surprise. The Butter Paneer Masala was incredibly creamy and delicious — I couldn’t stop myself from licking my fingers! The Onion Cheese Kulcha was like an Indian twist on a cheese burst pizza — absolutely spot on.For dessert, we went with Kulfi Falooda and Lychee ki Tehree (Rabdi). The Kulfi Falooda was out of this world — unlike anything I’ve ever had before — with a refreshing paan flavor and rose ice cream that took the whole experience to another level. It was the perfect sweet ending to our meal.A special mention to the manager, who was exceptionally helpful and ensured everything went smoothly for us. His attentiveness really elevated our experience. The rest of the staff — from the waitress taking our order to the table servers — were equally polite, professional, and welcoming.Overall, it was a beautiful dining experience that I would recommend to anyone. My friends loved it too, and I can’t wait to be back!
August 11 · viraj rasalVisited GupShup for lunch and had a great experience. The food was above average— their small plates definitely stood out. What made the meal extra special was the excellent service. The chef surprised my boyfriend with a birthday dessert and even came out to serve our entrees, adding a personal touch. Highly recommend for both the food and the unforgettable service!
