Located in the heart of Park Slope, this restaurant has quickly become a local favorite, celebrated for its high-quality food, cozy atmosphere, and exceptional service. The name "Haenyeo," which refers to the legendary female divers of Jeju Island, Korea, hints at the restaurant’s deep respect for fresh, authentic ingredients and traditional culinary practices, while its execution is decidedly contemporary and elegant.
Haenyeo is more than just a place to eat; it's a dining experience that is both intimate and sophisticated. The space, though not large, is thoughtfully designed to create a cozy and romantic ambiance. The décor is minimal and stylish, allowing the food and the company to take center stage. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I wish I came to Haenyeo earlier on because I’d hands down say this is the best restaurant in Park Slope. The vibe inside, the staff, and the food are up to standard with some of the best restaurants in the city. Some standouts are their kimchi and bulgogi but I really didn’t have anything that was below average. I 100% will be back soon, hopefully when people are in town so we can show them some delicious food. Would highly recommend if you’re in the area (or even outside the area and are reading this).
September 16 · Andrew DabydeenMy husband and I have been to Haenyeo approximately 3-4 times at least. We have tried different items on the menu. I especially like the Dukboki Fundido, Suun Dubu, Ojingo Bibimbop and the Bulgogi. It saddens me that they no longer serve the seafood bouillabaise because it’s one of my favorites. From the dessert menu, we had the beignets and the warm chocolate cake — both equally good. We’re not big on alcohol so we haven’t tried any of their cocktails. The restaurant was full every single time we were there and the space is not that big so it felt a bit crowded. But the service was fast and efficient and we didn’t feel hurried. We would definitely go there again.
September 25 · J NMSuper yummy cocktails and food. Our server was great too, very attentive. Great options for vegetarians. Definitely planning to come back!
August 16 · Larissa LichaExcellent food overall. The beef bulgogi was over the top delicious! As well as the scallion pancakes. Spicy pork was also fantastic!! Reservations highly recommended
September 26 · Deepak RaoI recently had an amazing dining experience at Haenyeo, and I can’t recommend it enough! From the moment we arrived, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the perfect tone for the evening.A huge shoutout to Izzy at the bar—she was incredibly informative, attentive, and made us feel truly taken care of. Her friendly and professional service really stood out! Now, onto the food—absolutely phenomenal. We started with the Fluke Crudo and Grilled Oysters with Seaweed Butter on Brioche Toast—both were fresh, flavorful, and a perfect start to the meal. The Dukboki Fundido was next, and let me tell you, that sauce was straight-up crack—more on the sweet side than spicy, but still rich, saucy, and cheesy perfection with the chorizo and Oaxaca cheese bringing it all together. The kimchi was also excellent, adding just the right amount of tangy spice to complement everything. And to top it all off, we were treated to Sugar-Dusted Beignets—light, fluffy, and simply Soooo good!Everything about Haenyeo was top-notch, from the impeccable service to the unforgettable flavors. Can’t wait to come back—highly recommend!
