In the city that perfected the art of the bagel, finding a spot that truly stands out is no small feat. Leon’s Bagels, located on a charming block of Mulberry Street in the Nolita neighborhood, has quickly become a must-visit for both New Yorkers and tourists alike. This isn't just a place to grab a quick bite; it's a destination for one of the city's most iconic foods. From the moment you walk in, the aroma of freshly baked bagels fills the air, setting the stage for an authentic and delicious experience.
What makes Leon’s Bagels a true New York gem is its commitment to quality and classic preparation. A customer who was "exploring bagel shops of lower manhattan all week" found this one impressive enough to "come back to it." The bagels themselves are "absolutely delicious—probably the best I’ve ever had," according to one enthusiastic reviewer. They have the perfect balance of a crispy, chewy exterior and a soft, flavorful interior. The dedication to getting the basics right is what makes their bagels so good, whether you're enjoying them on-site or taking a half-dozen home with you, as one satisfied customer from Boston did.
Beyond the food, the welcoming and friendly staff at Leon's Bagels truly elevate the experience. Customers note that the staff is "incredibly welcoming and friendly," and knowledgeable enough to offer expert advice, like knowing "what cream cheese would pair best with each bagel." This kind of personal touch makes a quick visit feel special and warm. While some of the more elaborate sandwich constructions may be a little messy, the quality of the core ingredients—the bagels, the lox, the bacon, egg, and cheese—remains top-tier. For a classic New York bagel experience that’s both high-quality and friendly, Leon’s Bagels is an excellent choice.

What is Worth Choosing
At Leon’s Bagels, the real star is the bagel itself, so the best way to experience it is to start with a classic. For a savory choice, the Classic Lox ($16.00) is a fan favorite, praised for its generous toppings of lox, tomatoes, and cucumbers. While a customer noted that the construction can be messy, the flavor and quality are exceptional.
For a more traditional New York breakfast, the Bacon Egg Cheese ($10.00) is a perfect choice, offering a simple and delicious combination on a freshly toasted bagel. Another great option is to keep it simple and order a fresh bagel with your choice of cream cheese, as this truly highlights the quality of the bagel itself. Be sure to ask the staff for their recommendation on which cream cheese pairs best with your bagel of choice.
To complete your order, grab a coffee. The full menu of espresso drinks, from a classic Latte ($5.00) to a rich Mocha ($5.50), ensures a perfect pairing for your bagel. For a classic coffee experience, the Cold Brew ($5.25) is an excellent choice. No matter what you choose, you're guaranteed a delicious, high-quality New York bagel experience that will have you "definitely" coming back for more.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I went to Leon’s for the first time on 9/12, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. They even knew what to cream cheese would pair best with each bagel! The bagel itself was absolutely delicious—probably the best I’ve ever had! Leon’s will definitely be a must-visit whenever I’m in NYC.
September 15 · Anthony FerreiraA really good NY bagel. I’d been exploring bagel shops of lower manhattan all week and liked this one enough to come back to it.The bagel is great; the sandwich construction leaves a little to be desired. Both sandwiches I had fell apart really easily and are messy—classic lox because they load it up on tomatoes and cucumbers and it didn’t hold together well; the egg/avocado one I ordered custom also fell apart and I think would be better if they smashed the avocado. Next time I will probably do something simpler with just cream cheese. But great bagels, I took 6 home with me to Boston.
April 25 · Caroline LuisI work right next door and hadn’t tried it til this week. It is one of the best gluten free bagels I’ve had in the city. I’ve now had it twice in a week because I couldn’t stop thinking about the bagel. They’re a little pricey but I’ll def treat myself on occasions now. The coffee was also good!
July 29 · Brenna GatesGreat bagels! I had the Everything Bagel with egg, bacon and onion. My husband had the same but with tomato instead of bacon. Delicious, plentiful, and although there was a queue we did not have to wait long for our order. Some seating available outside but limited.
July 17 · Joanna LouiseOne of the best bagels I’ve had while visiting NYC! Got an everything bagel with egg and chicken sausage and it was absolutely amazing. The bagel was warm and toasty outside with a fluffy inside. The portions are also HUGE. Kept me full all day as I explored NYC. Will definitely be going back 😋
