Hot Bagel Introduce
For well over two decades, Hot Bagel has been a definitive breakfast destination in its Brooklyn neighborhood, standing as one of the best, if not the best, spots for a quick and satisfying morning meal. This establishment is a classic New York Bagel shop, committed to the tradition of Hand Rolled Bagels, but its appeal extends far beyond the simple bagel-and-schmear. It operates as a full-service sandwich and grill spot, offering massive heroes, gourmet panini, and specialized breakfast creations.
Patrons are dedicated to the quality of the food, praising items like the garlic bagels with veggie cream cheese and salmon lox, and noting that the chicken cutlet on a hero and other sandwiches are consistently "just good." The dedication to efficiency is clear, as the place is frequently packed even at 6:30 am, a testament to its fast service and reliable quality. While prices reflect its long-standing presence and high quality—with a bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel currently at $8.99—the menu offers great options that provide a superior value, making it a beloved local fixture on Church Avenue.
Hot Bagel is conveniently situated at 127 Church Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11218, USA. This address places it squarely in a vibrant residential and commercial area of Brooklyn, making it a critical stop for locals beginning their day or seeking a quick meal. Its location on Church Avenue ensures it's easily reachable, and its business model is tailored for rapid customer turnover, designed for a Quick visit.
In terms of accessibility, the establishment accepts modern payment methods, including all major Credit cards, Debit cards, and NFC mobile payments, offering flexibility to customers who may not carry cash. However, as an essential piece of factual information for local patrons, it is important to note the standard operating practice of the business: a 3.75% surcharge is applied to payments made by card. This common practice in the small business sector is acknowledged by patrons, and cash payment is the suggested method for customers seeking to avoid this fee. The business is built for the rapid, high-volume New York traffic, prioritizing speed and transaction efficiency.
Hot Bagel focuses entirely on providing quick, high-quality prepared foods, and its services are streamlined for maximum convenience and speed, catering specifically to the needs of the fast-moving New York consumer.
- Convenient Service Options: The establishment provides three core service methods: Takeout (the primary function for most New Yorkers), fast Delivery to the local area, and a streamlined In-store pickup process for orders placed in advance.
- Focused Mealtime: The primary mealtime service is Breakfast, which extends throughout the day given the nature of the menu. Their offerings are geared towards a quick and satisfying start to the day.
- Custom Cream Cheese Service: A dedicated service is the bulk sale of their spreads through Cream Cheese By The Pound, allowing customers to take home their favorite flavors, such as Lox Spread or Dill And Cucumber Cream Cheese.
- Efficient Payment Handling: The acceptance of major card types and NFC mobile payments, while applying the surcharge, ensures the purchasing process is swift and adaptable to modern methods.
Hot Bagel is known for a blend of traditional quality and innovative menu options, setting it apart as a standout neighborhood deli and bagel shop.
- Authentic Bagel Quality: The core product is the Hand Rolled Bagels, maintaining a high standard of quality that is a hallmark of true New York bagel shops, though patrons note the size is geared toward a quick snack.
- Superior Sandwich Value: A key highlight is the better value found in the generously portioned Signature Heros and Gourmet Panini's, which customers report contain "more than double the food for less than twice the price" of the smaller bagel sandwiches.
- Inventive Breakfast Menu: The shop offers unique, high-value breakfast creations such as the Hungry Man Sandwich ($11.99) and the health-focused Healthy Man Sandwich ($10.50), along with a variety of customizable Breakfast Wraps (starting at $9.75).
- Specialty Cream Cheese Spreads: The deli features an extensive list of Flavored Cream Cheese and spreads, including unique options like Dill And Cucumber Cream Cheese and the classic Lox-Spread Cream Cheese ($6.99 per bagel).
- Operational Reliability: The consistently high customer volume, even in early hours, underscores the business's reliability and efficiency, making it the trusted morning stop.

Choosing Hot Bagel is opting for decades of breakfast expertise, where the menu provides a strategic array of choices offering excellent value for the busy New Yorker. While the Hand Rolled Bagels are the foundation—available for a low $1.99 with various spreads like Plain Cream Cheese ($3.99) or the indulgent Lox And Cream Cheese ($13.49)—the true value lies in exploring the larger, complex offerings.
The Signature Heros section is where the exceptional value lies, as noted by local customers. Highly recommended options include the classic Italian Sub ($14.50) and the unique flavor of The Russian Hero ($13.50). Other satisfying choices are the Chicken Cordon Blue Hero ($14.50) and the lighter Tuna Delight Hero ($11.00), available on a hero for a much more filling meal compared to a standard bagel sandwich. The Gourmet Panini's offer similar value and complexity, with options like the savory Chicken Fajita Panini and Cuban Panini (both $13.00), or the upscale The Italiano Panini ($14.00).
For the morning meal, the Specialty Egg Sandwiches and Breakfast Wraps demonstrate culinary creativity beyond the basics. Patrons can choose healthier options like the M1. Egg Whites, Spinach Sandwich ($9.75) or a protein-packed M5. Egg Whites, Steak Sandwich ($11.49). For those seeking heartier fare, the Pastrami, Egg And Cheese Sandwich ($10.49) or the fully loaded Hungry Man Sandwich ($11.99) are excellent choices. The wide range of 3 Egg Omelette Platters, including the Western Omelette, Greek Omelette, and the intriguing Mexican Omelette (all $9.00), provides a satisfying, plate-style breakfast often preferred by dine-in customers.
Finally, no mention of Hot Bagel is complete without highlighting the extensive variety of cream cheese available for bulk purchase. Locals can purchase their favorite flavors By The Pound, including popular choices like Scallion Cream Cheese, Vegetable Cream Cheese, Strawberry Cream Cheese, and the distinct Dill And Cucumber Cream Cheese. This makes Hot Bagel an essential supplier for the entire neighborhood's bagel needs. From the famous Chicken Cutlet on a hero to the unique New York Omelette ($11.49), the breadth and quality of the menu make Hot Bagel the reliable, long-standing breakfast and lunch choice on Church Avenue.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’ve been coming here on and off for probably close to 25 years. It’s definitely one of the best, if not the best breakfast spot in the neighborhood. The prices are high though and still going up. A bacon, egg and cheese bagel is $7. A raisin bagel with cinnamon cream cheese is $3.75; I think it was $2 just a few years ago.The bagels aren’t the big ones you see in some spots so it’s a quick snack. I can’t justify those prices since my favorite bodega is charging $5 for the bacon, egg and cheese. The sandwiches are a better value cause you’re getting more than double the food for less than twice the price. I like the “Italian Sub” and “The Russian” for $12. I tried the “Tuna Delight” on a hero today for $10 and it’s more justified than the bagel prices. They charged .50 just to add onions which is kinda lame. Sandwich shops don’t do that unless it’s something like roasted red peppers.Lastly, they surcharge 3.75% to pay by card. I work in credit card processing so I understand more than most how thin the margins are for a small business. I urge most of my clients to do the same to be more profitable (pass the fees to the customer), but when you’re also charging extra just to add onions it gets to a point where you gotta call out being cheap. Sorry. It’s still a very good local spot to grab a bite. The place is packed even at 6:30 am. The pictures are the Italian Sub, bacon egg and cheese on a bagel, raisin bagel, and the Tuna Delight.
July 31 · Joseph AGreat bagel store in the block. Love their garlic bagels with veggie cream cheese and salmon lox. That and their chicken cutlet on a hero and any other sandwiches are just good. Oh never forget their turkey bacon egg and cheese as well lol.
September 25 · Ishtiaque ZamanI’ve been coming to Hot Bagel regularly to get breakfast for my family, and it used to be my go-to spot. Unfortunately, my last two visits have been incredibly disappointing and I can no longer support this business. On my most recent visit, I placed a very simple order: two bagels — one everything with butter and jelly, and one plain with cream cheese and jelly. Somehow, this straightforward order was mishandled, just like the time before. When I politely asked the staff member if I had done something wrong, because it truly felt like I had offended him, he became loud and defensive instead of resolving the issue. The situation escalated to the point where the owner had to step in and quiet him down.I work hard, just like they do, and when I come to support a business, I expect to be treated with basic respect. Instead, I felt like I was viewed as a problem rather than a paying customer. It’s disappointing that a place I once enjoyed no longer feels welcoming. Sadly, I won’t be returning.
September 22 · Miguel BI'm craving a 🥯 right now, and I know just the place! The staff is always so friendly and welcoming. It really feels like a home away from home 💖. Plus, the owner is amazing and makes everyone feel special. Definitely my go-to spot for a delicious breakfast. #HotBagel #BreakfastGoals #BestBagels
April 12 · Edwin JimenezThe best of the best. The best coffee. Delicious bagels. Delicious & clean deli. It can get really busy. Only downside is sometimes you can want something simple like a coffee & wait a super long time til everyone finishes sandwiches. I wish while others prepared the sandwiches, one could give the coffee lol. Great spot though.
