August 25 · ImBroke RobService and atmosphere is great but food was quite disappointing. They bought the wrong food out with avocado in my burger texture like carrots. Seems like the chef just does what he wants to do, not what the customer ordered. Drinks, yes but food, no (P.S. to owner, we didn't order a black bean burger nor did we post on Yelp as you mentioned. Seems like the point is being missed entirely).
August 22 · Jay SinghNot worth dinging score but love tk see more exotic “kinda” stuff buits ALL NOW IS GOOD!! The rest….1: service= : like your ole fashion hood PUB”. Where you’re in a comfy drink spot .they treat u as such. It makes for Meah of old school & new gentrify types! It’s like everyone grew up there, which is not the case. Service has hand in that2.—- Atmosphere — Combined with #1, fact owners by way of Father had Bar for 40yrs!And Father “Jack” was a Neighborhood “Uncle” to all. It has Sunnyside specifically “Skillman Park”Tradition mixed in. Along with the considerable FDNY component of members from the neighborhood over the last 6070 years. As well as all three of “jacks” sons being on the FDNY!!Last… Many people do not know, but Jack’s place was originally called _”OUTPOST” AND!!! It is actually a historic landmark due to the fact that it was an “outpost” in the years where people would ride through and they needed sPrior to JACK. The bar had it ups and downs. I lived right up the block and has an H as well nine-year-old I would pull pranks on the old guys in the bar by throwing smoke bombs in the back door. Lol Yes, not so funny. But man that bar is along with Skillman Park, the center of the Sunnyside Skillman Avenue universe!!Thank you, Brian (current owner) for keeping the fire burning (no pun) Coming home
August 16 · Vito TrimlettBeen here twice and plan on visiting again. The atmosphere is laid back. It is very dog friendly, as a matter of fact the first time my friend and I came here, we were celebrating Precious's birthday (my friend's doggie). The food is good. I had the cheeseburger and it was tasty. Just ask Precious, she enjoyed a piece or two of it. 😊 The second time I went I had the Shrimp Basket and it was 😋. It had the right amount of breading and they were plump and juicy. The selection of drafts is good and the drinks are good also. The prices here are very reasonable. They have a great outdoor seating area with picnic tables. Amy the bartender is very nice. I'm very glad that I decided to try this place. It might become one of my go to pubs. I also love the decor. Part of the bar is the front of a firetruck and there is other Fire Dept. decor. Updated 2/4/23: Came back here recently and I had a very pleasant time. The bartender, James, was very nice and so were the owners, who happened to be there the day I went. The menu has been revamped and the items on it look good. I got there for 2 P.M. Happy Hour and they have good deals. This is a great neighborhood bar. The vibe is comfortable for everyone. You can even feel comfortable bringing the kids and of course doggies are welcomed also. I plan to visit here more often. Looking forward to trying some of the new menu items.
