★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We went again for dinner the other day. Four of us. Greeted very nicely at the door and got a nice table inside. We ordered several appetizers including beat salad, shrimp salad and two mains salmon and steak frittes all were good but the steak was a little tough. Portions were quite large. We brought our own wine and the corkage fee was $35.00.Service was very nice and there was a lively crowd but a little noisy due to the people at the table next to us.
September 09 · THE EXPLORERA nice French alternative in the UES, where you can enjoy the classic escargots, a tasty Duck or the Coquille St. Jacques. For dessert we recommend the Tarte Tatin. The staff is very friendly and helpful.Recommended!
September 12 · M. H.Jean Claude Restaurant is a true hidden gem on the Upper East Side — warm, intimate, and effortlessly charming. The ambiance is classic French bistro, with candlelit tables and a cozy, welcoming vibe that makes you feel like a regular from your first visit. The food is exceptional. The steak frites was tender and perfectly balanced, the escargots rich and flavorful, The scallops with risotto were perfectly seared — buttery and tender — served over a creamy, rich vegetable risotto that was full of depth and balance. The fries were the best fries I’ve ever had! Perfectly salty and crispy. And the crème brûlée absolutely spot on. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared and deeply authentic.Service was friendly and attentive, with staff who clearly know and love the menu. For a quiet, delicious escape from the city buzz, Jean Claude delivers on every level. A must-visit for lovers of French cuisine.
July 20 · lucy millerTried the new location. Very nice and cozy. A little hard to hear conversations. Food was outstanding. We tried the Pate, salads, crab cakes. All were very fresh and presentation was outstanding. For mains we tried the duck special and the chicken along with steak. My roasted chicken was moist and crispy just excellent! Service was friendly and fast. Overall a great meal.
