Iconic Cafe Introduce
Iconic Cafe presents a complex and confusing picture for those seeking a new coffee spot in New York City. Publicly available information, including a menu and business details, paints a picture of a cozy and trendy cafe located in a prime downtown location. However, a closer look at recent customer reviews and online discussion reveals a starkly different reality. It appears that the cafe as described may no longer exist, or perhaps never existed at all, with the provided address now housing a different type of business. This makes it a destination that is, at best, a point of confusion and, at worst, a potential disappointment for anyone trying to visit. The provided information, which includes a menu with single-origin coffees and baked goods, seems to be outdated and does not reflect the current status of the location.
The initial provided information suggests a straightforward cafe experience with a focus on quality coffee and a casual, cozy atmosphere. The menu lists a variety of offerings, from a standard Espresso Blend and Cappuccino to more specialized brewing methods like French press and pour-over for single-origin coffees. The food menu is simple but classic, with pastries such as Croissant, Muffin, and Brownie, positioning it as a typical quick-bite spot for breakfast or a light snack. The business is also said to be popular for solo dining, a common trait for New York cafes where individuals can grab a coffee and a pastry to go or enjoy a quiet moment.
However, it is crucial to address the significant discrepancies found in recent public data. Multiple recent reviews indicate that the address for Iconic Cafe at 238 Lafayette St, New York, NY 10012, USA, actually leads to a vape shop, and the cafe itself appears to be closed or non-existent. There is a concern among some reviewers that the online presence, including the menu and photos, is a "scam" used to lure in tourists, as there are no recent positive reviews or even mentions of the cafe's existence. The fact that the most recent reviews describing an actual cafe experience are several years old strongly supports this conclusion.
Based on the information, the location and accessibility of Iconic Cafe are highly questionable. The address is listed as 238 Lafayette St, which is in a busy and popular area of Soho. This is a very accessible neighborhood, well-served by public transportation, including several nearby subway lines. For those trying to visit, the location itself is not difficult to find. However, the issue is that upon arrival, visitors will likely find a business that is not a cafe. The listed phone number and other contact information may also be out of date or associated with a different business. The provided data claims there is a wheelchair accessible entrance, but given the conflicting information, this cannot be confirmed.
The services offered by what was once Iconic Cafe are listed as follows.
- Dine-in: The cafe was said to offer a place for patrons to sit and enjoy their coffee and pastries.
- Takeout: A convenient option for people on the go, allowing them to grab a quick coffee and continue with their day.
Given the current status of the business, these services are not likely to be available at this address. The information is provided solely for context of what the business was once purported to be.
The features and highlights, as per the provided information, include:
- Great Coffee and Tea Selection: The menu highlights single-origin coffees and a variety of teas, suggesting a focus on quality beverages.
- Quick Bite Options: The simple menu of pastries and baked goods makes it a convenient stop for a light meal.
- Casual and Trendy Atmosphere: The vibe is described as laid-back and modern, suitable for the Soho neighborhood.
- Good for Kids: The availability of simple treats and hot cocoa would make it a suitable spot for families.
Again, these features are based on outdated information and may not be a true representation of the current situation. Potential visitors should be aware that they may not find a cafe at this location, and therefore, these features cannot be relied upon.
The contact information provided is for a business that may not be operational as a cafe.

What is worth choosing about Iconic Cafe? The most honest and factual answer is that it is not worth choosing, as the business appears to be a ghost of its former self or, more likely, a non-existent entity at the specified location. The conflicting reviews and the fact that recent visitors have found a completely different business at the address make it a place to avoid. While the concept of a cozy, high-quality coffee shop in the heart of Soho is appealing, the reality is that the promise of Iconic Cafe seems to be a false one. For those in New York seeking a genuine coffee experience, it would be wise to consult more recent and reliable sources to find an establishment that is verifiably open and well-regarded. The information surrounding Iconic Cafe serves as a cautionary tale, reminding us to always verify a business's current status before making a trip.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Got to say that the person working here was the single rudest person I’ve encountered in the city. And this is New York. Literally did not say a single word, even when I said “hey, how are you today?” - gave me a look that could have frozen hell over. Didn’t tell me the price of the magazine I was buying, didn’t say thanks, I honestly left thinking I had somehow offended him even though I just spent $25 on a single item. Back to Casa Magazines for me. Two stars are for range of items and it’s a kinda clean place.
June 18 · Chris WestheadThe actual cafe is closed or never existed, the address actually leads to a vape shop, they are just using the old images for the cafe to lure in tourists. If you notice there isn't a single real review that is less then 3 years old. It's a scam don't bother.
April 18 · Paul DI used to go to this store because is a quick place to use the atm or play lottery. But you get harrased by the uneducated store clerk if you park your bike six feet from the store. Not blocking anyone at all and the door opens only by push. Misprinted loteery tickets, one of the worse coffee ever purchased. Or the clerk doesn't want to play your lottery ticket or he is playing someone's else games by phone. And gutsy to say you have to wait 7-10 minutes.Overall if there was an option of no stars for the worse service thats this place on Lafayette.Coffee next door is much better and friendly.
May 06 · surfingearthThis is a run-down bodega offering vape pens, certainly not a cafe. For some reason they like to pretend to be a coffee shop online and didn't change their name from the previous tenant (which was actually a cafe).
March 05 · Emily MuellerCame in for the croissant and cappuccino special and now I can't stop coming back! Now you would think that the Little Italy area would be awash with places to pick up your daily espresso jolt. Not so! Clearly this Roman tradition cannot compete with the pizza and pasta offerings of Mulberry Street and one must venture a block or two across to indulge.Iconic is a new addition to the neighborhood and deserves to be hyped up because, at least as far as coffee is concerned, they are doing things right. If you are hungry, there are bagels, pastries and fresh made sandwiches and as mentioned, I can vouch for the quality of their croissants. If you live nearby you should definitely give it a try. If you're just in the area, you should definitely give it a try. I think you can see what I'm saying...
