★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Best Hong Kong style paper wrapped sponge cake in an unfiltered, hole-in-the-wall shop in Chinatown Manhattan. Yes, I think there is a newer location close by but this one is authentically "historical". Who needs new paint and decor when the sponge cake is honestly this good. Great poster arts :) Personally, I only go for the sponge cake here.
October 12 · M HCome here sometimes bc it’s an OG spot in Chinatown known for its classic sponge cake. Got their sponsor cake and Thai coffee, sponge cake was dry, Thai coffee did not have much flavor of spices. Was disappointed. The staffs are efficient and has good manners. The environment is very outdated and a bunch of senior citizens just chilling and chatting. IMHO, they could def use some upgrade, nothing crazy to bring up prices, but to give a clean feeling when inside the shop, competition out there is too high to remain the hole in the wall feeling in this neighborhood.
April 22 · Wien LooDelicious historical Chinatown institution that’s been around for 50+ years! Famous for their sponge cakes, you must try all the flavors. Rice rolls are yummy 😋
June 29 · Lulu Gethe sponge cake is my favorite light snack when running errands in Chinatown (Vietnamese iced coffee is a decent addition) -- and the plain sponge cake has been $1 since forever.they did get rid of the 5 for $6 special since the pandemic.if your first glance into the space makes you think you're looking into a bodega with a few tables, you're in the right spot. head straight in toward the cashier!
March 30 · Melissa HOur friend got us a box of assorted sponge cakes of about 12 I think and we literally ate them in 3 days. I usually do not like sponge cakes but these were so good.
