★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1it took me a while to finally try MCF because there are so many options in Chinatown. the interior is very nice and much more modern and elevated compared to the restaurants in the neighborhood. i tried a couple of dishes and everything was tasty but didn’t blow me away especially at the price point. most of the dishes can be found in other restaurants at probably half the cost with the same flavor. my favorite dish from the night was probably the mala soup dumplings.

But there hit or miss situation, for instance the bun is out of this world, while pastarami although interesting but mostly was fat rather than meat and strong spices killed the pastarami flavor. Also I won't recommend their panacotta.But in general you get pretty tasty not average chineese food.The other concern is the price, it doesn't match the atmosphere and food. I would enjoy it much more if the bill would be at least 1/3 less.

The pork and shrimp wontons themselves were quite enjoyable, with a delicate flavor. However, the dish was unfortunately overwhelmed by an excessive amount of red oil. Similarly, the smashed cucumbers were heavily saturated in a sesame style dressing, and the eggplant parmigiana arrived swimming in oil, leaving a heavy feeling afterward. The wine list is limited. I had an orange wine that was good. On a positive note, the service was attentive, though the ambiance felt somewhat cold.

The ambiance is not very vibrant, BUT the staff is genuinely friendly, enhancing the overall dining experience.We began our meal with the Addictive Cabbage Salad and Smashed Cucumbers. The cabbage salad lived up to its name—crisp, tangy, and refreshing. The cucumbers, while fresh, didn’t leave a lasting impression.For hot starters, the Fried Calamari was well-executed, offering a satisfying crunch. The Mala Pork Soup Dumplings had a flavorful broth, but the numbing sensation from the Sichuan peppercorns was a bit overwhelming for our taste. The standout was the Crispy Beef in Orange Oil—the citrus notes complemented the savory beef pretty well.The Salt Cod Fried Rice was a pleasant surprise, with subtle flavors and a good balance of ingredients.Moving on to mains, the Thrice Cooked Bacon with Rice Cakes was heavily salty, overshadowing the other components. The Kung Pao Pastrami was an interesting, but the addition of home fries felt unnecessary and cluttered the dish.The Watercress dish turned out to be more of a pumpkin soup with watercress and chili. It was flavorful but might be better categorized under soups rather than vegetables. It was very good though.We ended the meal with the Silky Almond Cream, reminiscent of panna cotta, topped with strawberries and pop rocks. It was a fun and nostalgic end to the meal, though not particularly groundbreaking.Overall, while the dining experience was enjoyable and the service commendable, the food had its highs and lows. We ate here the night after returning from a vacation in the Canary islands eating at some amazing restaurant experiences, but after returning home and eating at Mission it was easily the most memorable meal we had eaten throughout our entire vacation. I couldn't recommended it more from the sprite noods to the branzino, everything is worth a try cause you will have a new favorite.
