★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I was very excited to eat here, but as soon as we walk through the door, the ladies start yelling at my boyfriend and I about how ordering works. It was my first time coming here and my first time experiencing this kind of hostile 'hospitality' from fellow Filipinos. My boyfriend is not Filipino and I wanted him to enjoy his first time trying Filipino food, but I had to explain to him this behavior is not representative of Filipinos. There was no reason for the yelling, as the restaurant was on the smaller side and had minimal chatter. I felt like the ordering procedure could be displayed somewhere or written on the menu to avoid this issue in the future. Regardless, we ordered the food, and it was great. 10/10, no complaints. I would just recommend ordering on Uber Eats or online elsewhere to avoid this terrible customer experience. Just very rude people other than the Caucasian man that was welcoming us to the restaurant.
September 23 · Charmaine Alexis AsuncionThis place is incredible! The people are so kind and have pride in being part of the community. The food is incredible and I’ve never had Filipino food before, but also very affordable! Every time I go back, there new dishes to try and I will definitely keep going back!
July 13 · BluStumbled upon this place after going to Eisenhower park. Really tasty home style cooked dishes. We tried most of the hot plate offerings and the lechon and everything was delicious. Owners are super friendly and very hospitable. Even had a little coloring package for kids. Will definitely be coming back to try the a la carte menu.
February 01 · Andy CSo delicious! 3 of us ordered and shared 2 lunch specials and an ala carte kitchen item. The sizzling sisig pampanga is sooo delicious. We are already making plans to return!
February 18 · Kelsey RoseEverything was incredible. I learned that bitter melon is what Guyanese call "karela" so it was a pleasant surprise to recognize the taste in a different cuisine than I'm accustomed to. We sampled several dishes, all of which were delicious!I recommend the following: Lumpiang Shanghai ("Filipino egg rolls"), Lechon Kawali (deep fried marinated pork belly), Ginisang Ampalaya (Bittermelon sauteed with garlic, onion, tomatoes, egg), Bistek Tagalog (thinly sliced beef, braised in soy sauce and calamansi, garnished with onion rings), Chicken Afritada (Tomato based chicken stew with potatoes, carrots, and bell peppers), and Sisig Pampanga (Minced grilled pork belly seasoned with calamansi and onions). The hospitality at Kusinera is exemplary: it's one thing to go somewhere and have a meal. This was an entirely different experience, we were invited to a feast of amazing cultural dishes, and they shared the heritage of the dishes. Joy and Dennis are gracious hosts, and I'm excited to return for the next meal!
