La Bicyclette Bakery Introduce
Nestled on Driggs Avenue in the heart of Williamsburg, La Bicyclette Bakery is a charming, small-scale establishment that brings a taste of authentic French baking to Brooklyn. With a name that conjures images of a quiet French village and its iconic bakery, this spot delivers on its promise of traditional, high-quality baked goods. The space itself is cozy and intimate, a common characteristic of many beloved New York businesses, but what it may lack in size, it more than makes up for in character and flavor. La Bicyclette has become a well-known name in the neighborhood, drawing in a steady stream of locals and visitors who are in search of a genuine pastry experience. The bakery's focus is on crafting artisan breads and viennoiseries, the flaky, buttery pastries that are a hallmark of French baking. The dedication to this craft is evident in every bite, making it a must-visit for anyone with a love for baked goods.
The philosophy behind La Bicyclette Bakery is simple: to provide accessible, high-quality French bread and pastries that become a part of the daily routine for New Yorkers. The bakery is run by a French owner, Chef Flo, who has dedicated his life to the art of baking. His journey, from an apprenticeship at age 13 to working in bakeries across the world, is a testament to the passion and expertise that goes into every product. This commitment to tradition is what sets La Bicyclette apart. They use high-quality organic ingredients, and their signature breads, like the baguette, are crafted with the same flour Chef Flo used as a child in France. This focus on authentic ingredients and time-honored techniques results in a product that truly transports you. The menu is a reflection of this ethos, featuring classic staples like croissants and pain au chocolat, as well as unique tarts and other pastries.
While some might see the bakery's smaller selection as a limitation, it is a deliberate choice that highlights a mastery of the craft. The focus is on doing a few things exceptionally well, rather than offering an overwhelming array of average products. This is a sign of a confident and skilled baker. As one customer noted, the case is full of "laminated pastries," which speaks to the bakery's expertise in creating these complex and delicious treats. Despite a reviewer finding their particular choice to be "average," it's clear from other glowing reviews—including one that found a "favorite cheese danish out of all the ones I’ve tried"—that quality and taste are a primary concern here. The fact that the bakery is popular enough to have lines form, especially on weekends, is a clear indicator of its local popularity and the delicious reputation it has built for itself.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Stopped in as it was mentioned many times as a bakery to visit when in the area, so I did.I arrived right before they opened so they had a full case of pastries. The space is small like most nyc businesses but the staff were friendly. While it’s hard to follow this with somewhere like radio bakery I tried to be open minded. I was upset to see they are on the trend of a case full of laminated pastries. We get it. If you can make 4 laminated pastries we believe you can make 10.So unfortunately it makes the selection feel small. I went with the pear almond tarte which was decent. It was probably average over all. Nothing remarkable but certainly not bad enough to say “I can’t even finish this”.Over all I think it’s an average bakery from what I experienced and while I’d stopping if in the area I would inconvenience myself to go here. With that said if you’re in the area drop by and pick something up
September 07 · MatthewOh my, this is amazing! The pastries are incredibly delicious, and here I found my favorite cheese danish out of all the ones I’ve tried (and I’ve tried a lot). The line moves quickly, everyone is working very efficiently
July 26 · Marie MironovaIt was so delicious that I ate it all without even thinking about taking a picture of the bread. It's really delicious. No need to say anything. You really have to try it. The pastry was delicious, the pie was delicious, and the baguette was delicious. It was a very cold day, and I waited about 15 minutes to buy bread, but it was worth the time.
February 02 · Eunjoo Kim (Ej)Best baguette ever. Also they use imported from France flour which makes all sorts of much better. And they sell excellent French butter. Almond croissants is the best in the area also. And plain croissant. Haven’t tried other things, always eat the same. But so far I’d say must try place
