Samurai Mama Introduce
In the bustling, trend-setting neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, a culinary gem offers a warm and authentic taste of Japan. Samurai Mama is a Japanese restaurant that stands out by focusing on the art of udon, a noodle type that deserves as much love as its famous cousin, ramen. The restaurant's philosophy is built on a deep respect for traditional Japanese techniques while creating a dining experience that feels modern and approachable to the New York palate. Upon entering, you're greeted by a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for a casual meal, a date night, or a gathering with friends and family. The design is simple yet trendy, creating a comfortable space that feels both intimate and communal. This unique blend of traditional cuisine and a contemporary setting is what makes Samurai Mama a true local favorite and a must-visit for anyone in the city looking for a memorable Japanese meal.
What truly sets Samurai Mama apart is its unwavering commitment to quality and authenticity, particularly with its signature udon. The udon noodles are made in-house daily, right here in Brooklyn, ensuring a fresh, chewy, and satisfying texture that is hard to find elsewhere. The udon soup broth is a work of art, a rich and complex flavor profile developed over a meticulous two-day process. This broth is crafted from a balanced blend of traditional Japanese ingredients, including konbu seaweed, shiitake mushrooms, flying fish, and various kinds of bonito and tuna, all imported from Japan. This dedication to authentic, high-quality ingredients results in a depth of flavor that is truly exceptional. While udon is the main star, the menu is far from limited. It also features a variety of other Japanese comfort foods, including their popular ramen, delectable sushi, and unique appetizers.
The menu is thoughtfully organized to help you navigate a world of delicious choices. The Hot Udon section offers a variety of soup-style dishes like Nikujil Kake Udon and Ebi Tempura Udon, as well as unique "dump style" and "dipping style" options, such as Bukkake Udon and Niku Tsukejil Udon. For those who prefer a refreshing meal, the Chilled Udon menu is a fantastic choice, especially for warmer days. The Ramen selection is equally impressive, with the Mama Original Ramen Fatty Mama Ramen being a customer favorite, known for its rich and flavorful broth. Vegetarians and vegans are not left out, with a dedicated Vegan Ramen and other plant-based options like Mama Salad and Age Nasu Fried Eggplant. Beyond the noodles, Samurai Mama is celebrated for its inventive sushi offerings, particularly the "Sushi Tacos," which are a fun and delicious take on traditional rolls. With a variety of Tacos and classic Rolls to choose from, there's something to satisfy every sushi craving. The menu also includes Donburi (rice bowls), such as the Salmon Ikura Don, and a selection of classic Japanese appetizers like Mama Homemade Gyoza Dumplings and Garlic Fried Chicken. The offerings also extend to a full bar with a great selection of Beer, Wine, Cocktails, and Hard Liquor, perfect for pairing with your meal or enjoying during happy hour.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Peak rainy day destination. The best ramen & udon by far, and their ingredients arevery high quality. The service is excellent as well, they let me and my friends stay and chat during the lunch/dinner swap which was incredibly kind. Love coming back to this place!
September 07 · LucijaWe had a great experience in this place. I had the best gyoza of my life here and also the miso soup was delicious. The staff was so kind and professional. I also recommend the Mushroom ramen.
July 23 · giorgia nardinelliVibes are immaculate ✨ I wish more restaurants had low lights and community tables. This made for good people watching while enjoying perfect Udon Curry with friends. The food is always so good—in particular stop in on cold nights or rainy days to warm up within these wooden walls. Groups, family, or date night—this place is it.
March 09 · Katrina NeumannI had much higher hopes that what I actually ate. Maybe it was an off night, everything seemed basic and small for the price. Staff were super busy, but not attentive. Might have needed more? The food was just good, not bad, but also not the special that I was expecting to get. The portions were small. The place was loud. I would give it another chance, because my partner said it was really good.
March 21 · Hillary Guzik-JungFood was okay. But I do not recommend if you are looking for any authentic Japanese. Also, the place is SUPER HOT. I asked for a seat under AC but they said they could not move us due to other reservation. But the seat was empty until we leave the restaurant.
