La Noxe Introduce
In a city famous for its hidden gems and exclusive experiences, La Noxe stands out as a true New York secret. This cocktail bar is a quintessential speakeasy, with a hidden entrance that adds to its mystique and charm. Located in a working subway station, La Noxe offers a unique and intriguing escape from the city's relentless pace. Its design, with moody lighting and sleek decor, creates a romantic and cozy atmosphere that feels both trendy and upscale. For those seeking more than just a place to grab a drink, La Noxe promises a memorable and "Alice in Wonderland-esque" journey into a world of curated cocktails and intimate vibes.
The concept of La Noxe is built around exclusivity and atmosphere. The bar is a small, intimate space, designed to feel like a private lounge. Its focus is on providing a high-quality drinking experience, with a menu of thoughtfully crafted cocktails that are well-balanced and creative. Beyond the drinks, the bar also offers a selection of tapas, perfect for a quick bite or a shared plate. This combination of a sophisticated drink menu and light food options makes it a suitable spot for a date or a small gathering. The overall ambiance is a key part of the experience, with the hope that the mood lighting and curated music will transport patrons to a different world, far from the hustle and bustle of the streets above.
However, as with any high-concept venue, timing and expectations are crucial. The bar's ambiance is heavily dependent on the crowd, and it truly comes alive when the room is buzzing. This article will provide an in-depth look at what to expect from a visit to La Noxe, from its intriguing location and services to its unique features and the considerations that matter most to New Yorkers looking for the perfect night out.
La Noxe’s location is arguably its most distinctive feature. It is a hidden bar with an entrance at 162 W 28th St, which leads to a space located within the 28th Street subway station. This unique setting is part of the allure, creating a sense of discovery for patrons who are able to find it. The bar is easily accessible by public transportation, as it is literally within a subway station. This means guests can arrive by train and have a seamless journey to the venue.
While the provided information does not include details on wheelchair accessibility, the nature of its entrance within a subway station may present challenges. For patrons with mobility issues, it is highly recommended to call ahead to inquire about specific access routes. The venue’s unique entrance adds to its speakeasy charm, but it's important to be aware of the precise location at the 28th Street subway station and to be on the lookout for the discreet door.
Parking in the area is limited, with free street parking listed as an option, though finding an available spot in a busy part of Manhattan is often difficult. Most visitors will find it more convenient to arrive by public transit, which is a major benefit of a location like this.
La Noxe offers a concise set of services, focusing on providing a premium dine-in experience for its patrons.

What is worth choosing? La Noxe is a bar for those who are seeking a unique, atmospheric, and exclusive experience. The novelty of its location within a subway station is a major selling point, and for many, the "cool" factor of entering through a hidden door is what makes the experience worthwhile. The well-crafted cocktails and the cozy, romantic atmosphere make it a perfect place for a date. The general consensus from positive reviews is that when the bar is bustling and the concept comes to life, it is a very cool and enjoyable spot.
However, it is important to consider the potential downsides. As one customer review points out, the timing of your visit is everything. Arriving too early might mean a flat atmosphere, and the small size of the venue can lead to a less-than-ideal experience if the crowd is not what you were hoping for. The small size also means there's only a single bathroom, which can be an inconvenience. It is crucial to have a reservation and to manage expectations. The high price point for cocktails means that patrons are paying not just for the drink, but for the entire experience, so any flaw in that experience can feel more pronounced. For a memorable late-night stop or a specific, pre-planned date night, La Noxe can be a fantastic choice, provided you book ahead and are prepared for the full speakeasy experience, for better or worse.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1La Noxe is one of those spots that thrives on exclusivity; hidden entrance, moody lighting, sleek design — but timing is everything here. I had an 8:30 reservation and walked into a completely empty space. Instead of feeling intimate, it leaned a little too quiet, almost like we had arrived before the party started. The cocktails were well-balanced and thoughtfully crafted, but at this price point I was hoping for the atmosphere to match the drinks. Service was polite, though with no one else around, the energy felt flat rather than elevated. One thing worth noting: there’s only a single bathroom, and by the time I went in, it was clear the men before me hadn’t exactly aimed well. Not the chicest detail for a speakeasy-style bar that leans on exclusivity.I can see how La Noxe could be a fun late-night stop when the room is buzzing and the concept really comes alive. At 8:30, though, it felt more novelty than magic. A spot worth experiencing once, but one where the when matters just as much as the where.
August 31 · kuenga kayA very nice speakeasy bar with a good selection of cocktails and other beverages. The mood lighting was good to set up a nice atmosphere. The real cool thing is that you actually exist through an actual subway station to the street. Very cool and we had a great overall experience here.
June 15 · C NeonNice place to be cozy. Cool ambiance, easy atmosphere. We enjoyed the time it was well spent.
July 26 · ShafaatThe drinks are very over priced. The space is cool and i love that it’s right along the subway. It’s a fun surprise to walk through the door. But the space is so small and the way its laid out just makes it awkward because you hear everyone conversations. For some reason the bartender that night was upset and it seemed like he might be having an argument with someone over text. He kept standing and texting every few minutes. He was nice but not particularly friendly or fun. He didn’t make an effort with the customers at all. He seemed really grumpy. I think in a place this small, if you pull in the whole bar with the specialty of drinks but also making them and almost making it a show then it makes more sense. But this place just really missed the mark.
March 25 · Neha LuthraThe drinks were good though quite expensive and the decor and atmosphere was nice. The space was small but when we went around 8/9pm there was no wait. The server rushed us a bit but excusable due to the size of the space. It was a fun speakeasy experience as the bar exits into the stair landing of a subway entrance.
