Liebre Cafe Introduce
Liebre Cafe stands as a charming and highly functional neighborhood coffee house, perfectly situated in the bustling heart of Sunset Park, Brooklyn. More than just a simple cafe, it has established itself as a warm and cozy retreat for the local New York community, offering a professional-grade selection of espresso beverages, a notable tea program, and a distinctive menu of baked goods that introduce an international flair to the area. This establishment is particularly popular among residents and remote workers for its inviting atmosphere, a welcome combination of casual comfort and trendy design.
For the busy New Yorker, Liebre Cafe serves multiple roles seamlessly. It’s an ideal spot for a quick, high-quality morning espresso, a relaxed lunch featuring classic bagel options or specialty sandwiches, and a dependable place to satisfy a craving for something sweet. The cafe prides itself on its quality of its core offerings, garnering praise from patrons for both its "Great coffee" and "Great tea selection." The friendly greeting upon entering, as noted in customer reviews, reflects the cafe's commitment to providing warm, personal service—a trait highly valued in a community-focused establishment.
One of the true highlights that sets Liebre Cafe apart from a standard Brooklyn coffee shop is its embrace of unique pastries, most notably the Cachito. The Cachito is a beloved Venezuelan crescent-shaped, slightly sweet bread roll, traditionally filled with savory ham and often cheese, akin to a croissant but with a softer, denser texture. This specialty item offers a delightful cultural culinary experience that is highly sought after by those in the know, transforming a routine coffee run into a flavorful discovery. Patrons specifically recommend trying the Cachito, positioning it as an "elite maneuver" and a defining element of the menu.
The beverage menu is robust, featuring all the essential coffee and espresso preparations—from a strong Americano and classic Cappuccino to a nuanced Cortado and Iced Latte. They professionally accommodate varied preferences with a full range of alternative milks, including Oat, Almond, and Soy. Furthermore, the option to add flavors like Condensed Milk is a unique touch that customers appreciate for customizing their drinks, reinforcing the friendly, customer-first approach of the business. Seasonal soup offerings, such as Tomatoe Bisque and Butternut Squash Bisque, also add a comforting dimension to the lunch menu.
In addition to its culinary strengths, the cafe meets the practical needs of the modern urban user. It is widely noted as being "Good for working on laptop," providing essential amenities like reliable Wi-Fi and comfortable seating. While the atmosphere is generally cozy and conducive to work, one customer noted the interior temperature might fluctuate as they do not have air conditioning, which is a practical consideration for New Yorkers, particularly during warmer months. However, the availability of Outdoor seating offers a pleasant alternative when weather permits, allowing patrons to enjoy their coffee and pastries while taking in the local scenery of 7th Avenue.
While the cafe is professionally run, one piece of constructive feedback highlighted potential for inconsistency in the quality of non-signature items and service timing, mentioning a slightly raw pastry dough and a delay between a food item and a drink. However, this appears contrasted by the overwhelming positive feedback regarding the overall quality of the coffee, specialty food, and the general welcoming demeanor of the staff, suggesting that the cafe typically manages its busy flow effectively.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I had a lot of time on my hands so I decided to make the trek here one morning. I was greeted warmly on entering. I don’t think they have AC because it was quite warm inside. Their pastry case was a little sparse, and several of them are meat based, so opted for the spinach empanada. The empanada was warmed up as I was eating it to stay and came out first. It was several minutes before my iced latte came out, even though there was no one being served before me. The iced latte was good, however, the empanada dough was slightly raw around the filling and the whole thing was a little bit flavorless. I wasn’t offered a sauce, like other reviewers had shown. My total came out to be $13.88, which is quite high.
August 27 · RMy favorite coffee shop in Sunset Park. Don’t sleep on the condensed milk you can add. That’s an elite maneuver not offered a lot of places. The food and pastries are also fantastic. Love the cachitos.
July 16 · Robb ToddThe vanilla ice latte was really good. This is a wonderful place. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable about all his customers. I will be coming back.
August 16 · Diana AguilarThis delightful family café is a true gem! I recently visited with my daughter, and we had an incredible experience. The arepas were exceptional, and the "cachitos" bread stuffed with Ham was absolutely delicious. The chai latte was the perfect complement to the cozy fall weather. With inviting outdoor seating and a charming book box offering selections for both adults and children, this place stands out. The service was top-notch; the owners took the time to serve the dishes and ensured that all guests felt content. You can also chop merch like T-shirts, coffee and small accessories. Joaquin was friendly, knowledgeable during my checkout, making our visit even more enjoyable. This is definitely a spot worth revisiting! If you’re in the area, don’t miss out on this lovely café.
November 02 · Anais G.Very unpleasant experience.1. Their coffee latte is watery and not tasty.2. Their avocado toast is sweet. They put some sort of syrup on it. Avocado on it is bland with only the syrup like sweetness on it.3. Service is so slow.4. Unpleasant atmosphere. Outside of the cafe 2 men (not customer) were sitting and taking the whole place without ordering anything for the entire time.
