Mido’s Introduce
When the craving for a quick, flavorful, and filling meal hits in the middle of a busy New York day, you need a spot you can count on. Mido’s, located on 9th Avenue, has become a reliable favorite for many New Yorkers looking for exactly that. This isn't your average fast-food joint; it's a place that delivers on taste, value, and a friendly face. While some online sources may refer to it as a food truck or cart, what truly matters is the food itself—and the reviews speak volumes. It's the kind of place you discover and immediately add to your "short list for lunch," as one satisfied customer put it. The excellent cheesesteaks and loaded platters are what keep people coming back for more.
Mido's specializes in classic halal street food, but they do it with a standout quality that makes them a local gem. Their menu is built around satisfying, hearty meals, with a strong emphasis on their acclaimed Chicken and Lamb Over Rice platters, as well as their sandwiches and gyros. A reviewer highlighted the "best value for $10," getting a "box filled to the brim with all of the fixings," which is a rare find in a city known for its high prices. Their Philly Cheesesteak is another fan favorite, praised for its quality and flavor. They also offer salads, dishes like Fish and Chips, and a variety of sides, ensuring there's something to satisfy every craving, all with the convenience of a fast-food experience.
The quality of the ingredients is what elevates Mido’s beyond the typical fast-food fare. The meats are seasoned well, and the portions are incredibly generous. The friendly service is also a huge part of the appeal. As one reviewer noted, "The guys are super friendly too which is always nice." This combination of great food and positive human interaction makes a quick meal feel more personal and welcoming. While they may be heavy-handed with the cilantro, a note of fair warning to those who don't enjoy the herb, it's clear that their commitment to bold flavors and satisfying portions is a winning formula. It’s a great option for a quick bite during lunch or a late-night meal.

Why choose Mido’s over the hundreds of other fast-food options in New York? The answer is simple: it’s an authentic, no-frills spot that consistently delivers on its promise of delicious, high-quality food. The stellar reviews, particularly for the cheesesteaks and the "over rice" platters, demonstrate a loyal following that values both taste and value. The "excellent" cheesesteak and the "box filled to the brim" are not just buzzwords; they are a testament to the fact that Mido’s prioritizes substance over style.
In a city where a quick lunch can often feel rushed and impersonal, Mido’s stands out with its combination of flavorful food and friendly service. Stopped by twice now when I was in the neighborhood around lunch time. Had a cheesesteak both times and both times it was excellent. The hot sauce pairs very well with it too if you like spice. Definitely on my short list for lunch, so give them a shot if you’re nearby. The guys are super friendly too which is always nice.
August 01 · Charles HBest value for $10 you get a box filled to the brim with all of the fixings. They tend to season with cilantro on the heavier side so a fair warning to those who don’t enjoy cilantro
August 25 · Sal DeenFantastic halal food cart!!! Such massive portion and affordability - under $10 for almost a full plate of chicken (see photos, taken from 2 different days). They take Apple Pay and cards too. The POS machine/Stripe does not even automatically prompt for tips.I personally appreciate how this is one of the very few halal carts that make the request for spiciness actually spicy enough. Maybe the best street chicken over rice at this given moment in NYC🙏
October 19 · J YLegit the best halal I've ever had in nyc. Still fresh and there was no line at 2 am. Very generous portions, he had to squish it down to close the lid. I got the combo over spicy rice. The lamb and chicken was super flavorful. Side of seasoned fries with the salad was a nice touch. Definitely my new halal spot next time in in the area.
April 16 · wil sonA 2 man cart, which is always a good sign. Meat finished to order sliced off vert spit and charred on the grill. $9 meat, fish, shrimp, combo over rice, $1 soda or water.Plate comes with greens, tomato, pickles & fries. Hot sauce is legit! The container is packed tight to the brim, great halal cart option to have in the area👍Congrats on evolving to a 4 man truck, still quality food with reasonable prices. Alas has gotten popular, 14 ppl orders deep, still went by pretty fast.
