If I could give zero reviews i would. I purchased an assortment of the large pastries and they were all bad. The Canoli, Teramsu, A cream filled pastry were all nasty. The cream, milk was expired. When I called the lady owner she said, I don't know if the fridge is working. It's your job to know. Didn't offer for me to return them. Terrible desserts and worse customer service. Explains why they are a cash only establishment. Never again. - Shentah Pizarro

Monreale Bakery Introduce

For residents of Long Island and the greater New York region seeking a true taste of old-world Italy, a visit to Monreale Bakery in Franklin Square is an absolute must. This establishment has become a cherished staple in the community, building a strong reputation for keeping authentic Italian baking traditions alive. Since Joseph DiFiore and his wife opened their first retail bakery on Long Island in 1996, following the path set by founder Matteo DiFiore, Monreale Bakery has been synonymous with high-quality, scratch-made goods. The history of this bakery traces its roots back to Sicily, with the original founder learning the trade in his Godfather's bakery, which speaks volumes about the commitment to traditional recipes and techniques.

The Monreale name now serves both retail customers and operates as the Monreale Bread Company, a wholesale distributor, a testament to the quality and demand for their artisanal bread. This commitment to fresh, authentic products without relying on mixes, preservatives, or freezing is what continues to draw customers in, offering a connection to authentic Italian flavors right here in Nassau County.

A stroll into Monreale Bakery offers a feast for the senses, with vibrant displays of baked goods and the pervasive, comforting scent of fresh bread. It’s an ideal stop for a quick morning treat, a necessary loaf for dinner, or a spectacular dessert for a special event. The commitment to quality ingredients and traditional preparation methods ensures that whether you're grabbing a cup of coffee and a pastry or placing a large order for a celebration, you are experiencing the authentic craft of Italian baking.

The bakery prides itself on adhering to stringent health guidelines, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for all customers. While the experience is generally positive, with many customers appreciating the dedication to quality, it is worth noting that some reviews have mentioned varying customer service experiences, and one specific report indicated issues with pastry freshness and a "cash only" observation. However, the consistent praise for their core products—especially the breads and classic pastries—highlights the bakery's strength in its traditional offerings.

If you're in the area and looking for an authentic piece of Italian tradition, Monreale Bakery offers a slice of Sicilian heritage, continuing a legacy of quality baking that has been passed down through generations.
