musubin’ Introduce

Located at 66 5th Ave, musubin' specializes in omusubi, the traditional Japanese rice ball, along with other delicious and simple dishes. Unlike many other Japanese establishments that focus on sushi or ramen, musubin' offers a more homey, a more familiar and comforting culinary experience. It's a place that caters to both a quick snack and a fulfilling meal, making it a perfect addition to the city’s vibrant food scene.
The concept behind musubin' is straightforward yet brilliant: to provide high-quality, authentic Japanese food that is accessible and convenient. The menu is a testament to this, with a focused selection of omusubi, donburi (rice bowls), and other sides. This simplicity allows them to excel in every dish they create. The restaurant prides itself on being an Asian-owned business, offering a space that is not only family-friendly but also a transgender safe space and LGBTQ+ friendly, which adds to its welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
For many New Yorkers who have experienced Japanese food only in its more common forms, musubin' is a pleasant and tasty surprise. It's a place that redefines what a "grab and go" meal can be, transforming a simple rice ball into a flavorful and satisfying culinary experience. The food is well-seasoned, comforting, and simple, as noted by enthusiastic customers. The commitment to quality is evident in every bite, from the moist and tasty omusubi to the well-seasoned karaage chicken. While it might have started as a food truck, its solid location now offers a more stable and reliable experience for its growing fan base.
In a city where dining can often be a hurried affair, musubin' offers a moment of delicious, calming indulgence. It’s a perfect spot for solo dining, a quick lunch break, or a casual dinner. The friendly and kind staff, along with the commitment to high-quality ingredients, makes every visit a pleasant one. It’s the kind of place that can turn a skeptic of food trucks or small eateries into a true believer, as one reviewer noted after being "really surprised" by the amazing food and great service.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Stopped here unexpectedly and I’m glad I did! Fun food truck with lots of delicious choices. We got the yuzu tuna rice ball and the karaage rice ball. The tuna ball was moist and tasty. The karaage chicken was delicious but it was quite dry paired with the rice and seaweed. It needed a little spicy mayo or hot sauce. We also grabbed a karaage don and again, delicious chicken. Very well seasoned, comforting, simple. He threw spicy mayo and another sauce on top and that made it a 10/10 for me.We tried the matcha mango and matcha strawberry drinks—both delicious. Not overly sweet which I love. The man working the truck was very kind and attentive. The food took quite awhile but it was worth it.

February 23 · Des KFHugely impressed with the Musubin truck. We went at lunch, and there was no line. The man staffing the truck was super friendly. I got a small order, just some inari sushi and a mochi. The inari sushi was hands down the best I've ever had, including the ones I had in Japan. And the mochi was phenomenal as well.Would give 6/5 if I could, the overall was better than a lot in Japan, and I'll surely be back!!
