Naked Tomato Introduce
In a city where culinary trends come and go, some restaurants manage to create a truly memorable experience that transcends a simple meal. Naked Tomato, a premier Israeli and Mediterranean restaurant located in the dynamic Hudson Yards neighborhood, is one such place. Helmed by the creative vision of celebrity Chef Eyal Shani, this restaurant offers a unique dining concept focused on sharing and connection. The name itself is a nod to the chef's passion for fresh, high-quality ingredients, particularly the tomato, which he sees as a symbol of perfection and hospitality. More than just a place to eat, Naked Tomato is an experience designed to break down barriers, where plates are shared and conversations flow freely. This article will explore what makes this restaurant a standout destination for both locals and tourists seeking an elevated and authentic Mediterranean dining experience.
Naked Tomato distinguishes itself with a philosophy centered on shared dining. The experience often begins with a complimentary and constant supply of sides, including delicious olive oil and fresh bread. This generous and welcoming approach sets a tone of abundance and camaraderie, encouraging diners to connect over food. A key feature of the menu is an impressive range of skewers—from chicken, beef, and lamb to various vegetables—served alongside up to 15 different small plate salads that are replenishable and change with the seasons. This "mezze-style" dining is both vibrant and interactive, transforming a meal into a communal journey of flavors and textures. The attention to detail extends to the quality of the main dishes, with one reviewer calling the "Branzino" "perfection."
The atmosphere is a critical part of the Naked Tomato experience. Described as a cacophony of Israeli, Arabic, and American music, the space is lively and energetic, filled with the sounds of clattering plates and engaging conversations. The restaurant is noted as being "family-friendly" and "LGBTQ+ friendly," creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for a diverse crowd. The availability of a "bar onsite" with a full range of "alcohol," "beer," "cocktails," and "wine" adds to the appeal, making it a great spot for happy hour or a celebratory dinner. While some may find the prices on the higher side, as noted in a review, the overall quality, unique concept, and generous servings of sides are a significant part of the value, making the experience feel worth the investment for many patrons.
From its generous hospitality to its creative and communal dining style, Naked Tomato offers a dining experience that is both unique and unforgettable. This overview sets the stage for a more detailed examination of its location, services, and the key features that make it a premier destination in the Hudson Yards dining scene.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This is my favorite restaurant in the city! For the price the experience is great! You receive sides with whatever you order and there is a constant supply. The olive oil and bread are amazing. The Branzino was perfection. This is a great location for small groups to share a meal and enjoy. Looking forward to experiencing similar cuisine by the owner.
March 16 · Adati TarfaOverall good experience. The food was good - the cauliflower is divine, the pita soft and fluffy like a cloud, all the salads were delicious. The waiters were nice and the service was good. I gave four stars instead of five only because I felt it is too pricy. It was about 70$ per person for us, which I feel I would spend on a more elevated food and experience.
March 25 · ayelet pWe had the best experience at Naked Tomato. We ordered a delicious selection mezze including hummus, baba ghanoush, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, warm pita, and more. We then ordered the butcher cut skewer. The meat juicy, flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also got the Octopus Shishlik which was delicious and so tender. The staff took great care of us and were really attentive and warm!
October 19 · Erin ProfaciAll I can say is Oh. My. Lord. I wish I lived in NYC so this could be a staple. Ambiance is average, but hard to do something really special in a mall. But I appreciated the tables weren't on top of each other. It was a little hard for some of our party to find as well (signs not as visible if you are walking in from the side; we had no problem coming up from the escalator). The food though! We had the Mezza plate with hummus, and kababs (octopus, chicken, steak). First off, the mezza plate would have been enough for dinner by itself. And was sooooo good. Hummus, pickles, potato salad, pickled onions, olives, cucumbers, tahini, beets, spicy carrots, and baba ganoush. What I loved most were their pitas. Unlike most places where you get pita bread that is thin and a bit dry, their's were thick and bready. Absolutely to die for!! And all the meats were really good! Rich flavors and perfectly cooked. The servers were friendly and attentive.
January 27 · Sarah GillespieThe waitress didn't know they ran out of lamb which led to confusion, forgot our main course until all the mezze was eaten, and the beef was overcooked. To top it all off, it was overpriced.Avoid and go to the Shake Shack on the same level. You will be much happier with your meal.
