Not an easy find since the google doesn’t pick up “ramen” from the shop name (lol). A pretty good ramen & drink place with unique atmosphere and lots of drink & appetizers choices. Ordered two appetizers and two ramens, ramen is especially fulfilling.- Appetizers: A Fried Corn is especially delicious! Not sure if it’s always on the menu, but please bring it back if not.- Ramen: Red Ramen is definitely on the spicy side, make sure you can handle spices first. Black Ramen seems to be Tonkutsu soup base with garlic oil (quite a lot of garlic oil), the soup is dense but delicious! - Gggl Eli

Discover Authentic Japanese Comfort at Nishida Sho-ten

In the bustling landscape of New York City, finding an authentic, traditional ramen shop can feel like a rare find. Nishida Sho-ten, an Asian-owned establishment in Midtown East, stands out as a true neighborhood gem. This is not just a place to eat; it's a cozy, traditional Japanese ramen and izakaya restaurant that offers a unique and intimate dining experience. From the moment you step inside, you are transported to a small, cozy shop, reminiscent of those found in Japan, creating a "traditional Japanese ramen and shop vibe" that customers adore.

Nishida Sho-ten is beloved for its commitment to serving high-quality, flavorful food. The menu is centered around its incredible ramen, known for its "rich delicious broth and chewy fresh noodles." As one satisfied customer noted, the ramen is "especially fulfilling" and the broths, whether a rich black garlic pork broth or a spicy tonkotsu, are both "dense but delicious." The restaurant also functions as an izakaya, a type of Japanese casual pub, offering a wide array of appetizers, small plates, and drinks. This dual identity makes it an excellent choice for a full-course meal or a late-night snack with friends.

The atmosphere is casual and trendy, attracting a diverse crowd of college students and tourists alike. Despite its popularity, a customer review points out that it's "not an easy find" because the name doesn't include "ramen," which adds to its charm as a hidden spot for those in the know. With fast service and a welcoming environment, Nishida Sho-ten offers a memorable dining experience that feels both traditional and uniquely New York.
