When visiting Patacon Pisao Truck, the choice of what to order can be delightfully overwhelming, but a few items stand out as absolute must-tries, representing the best of Venezuelan comfort food.
Firstly, the eponymous Patacón is the essential experience. This masterpiece redefines the sandwich with two perfectly pressed, green plantain slices acting as the “bun,” filled with your choice of protein and toppings. Options like the Cubano Patacón (with pulled pork, ham, and cheese) or the Paisa Patacón (grilled steak, chorizo, and an egg) are rich, hearty choices. Even the Patacon Burger offers a unique spin on a classic, perfect for a New York palate looking for novelty.
Next on the list is the Arepa, a Venezuelan staple of grilled cornmeal dough that is crispy on the outside and soft inside, sliced open and stuffed with various fillings. The De Pabellon Arepa, filled with black beans, shredded beef, sweet plantains, and cheese, offers a complete Venezuelan meal in one handheld package. Alternatively, the L'ARTISTA Arepa provides a unique blend of flavors, while the VEGETARIAN Arepa is a fantastic plant-based choice.
For those craving a different kind of sweet-and-savory combination, the Cachapa is a must. This is a large, thin, and slightly sweet pancake made from fresh ground corn, often folded over savory fillings and cheese. The Zuliana Cachapa and the De Pabellon Cachapa are celebrated choices that highlight the corn’s sweetness against the rich, savory filling. Many loyal patrons specifically call out this truck's Cachapas as the best in the city.
Finally, no order is complete without the Finger Snacks. Customer reviews frequently recommend the Tequeños—soft cheese sticks wrapped in dough and fried—calling them a mozzarella stick upgrade. The Empanadas and Pastelitos are also perfect small plates for sharing or enjoying a quick bite. Don't forget to ask for the homemade hot sauce, which customers rave "pairs perfectly well" with the Pulled Pork Patacón or the Beef Arepa, adding a wonderful kick to any dish.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I’ve tried other Patacon Pisa locations in the city, but this truck specifically has consistently delivered the best cachapas around. And they’ve done this for years.I never order anything without adding some sides of tequeños. If you like mozzarella sticks, you’ll love this soft cheese filled stick.A contender for a last meal if it ever comes to it
August 03 · Fred D Turner (Some Guy)First time trying patacones. Staff was very helpful and the food was very good! We got the Pulled Pork patacones and the Beef Arepa. The homemade hot sauce pairs perfectly well with both! The Tamarindo and Chinola drinks were also perfect for the hot weather. Will definitely be coming back!
June 21 · Andy LopezGreat spot in the neighborhood. They even have vegetarian options. We enjoyed the food (patacon was a little dry), the staff were polite and we received our food within 10min.Cash only!
December 21 · B EAfter a night at the bar I stopped by to grab something to eat here. I regret getting the blt patacon and should’ve just stuck with the shredded beef I usually get. Just be mindful that they are cash only.
January 09 · M AI have been here multiple times over the years, but it's been over a year since I last visited. When I get home, this is what I find. The food has always been good at this restaurant, and even with this burned patacón, everything else we ordered was delicious. Although this was my first poor experience here, the customer service is friendly, and the food is excellent. Before you leave, make sure you check your order.
