What is Worth Choosing
For New Yorkers prioritizing convenience and the specific, bold flavors of Louisiana cuisine, the menu at Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen offers several compelling choices that make it a worthwhile destination for fast-food seafood and chicken.
The Essential Seafood Experience: Given its classification as a seafood restaurant, the menu’s offerings in this category are worth exploring. The $B>Shrimp Tackle Box is a dependable choice, offering eight pieces of crispy butterfly shrimp that are hand-battered and seasoned with the brand's unique spice blend. The $B>Popcorn Shrimp offers a highly shareable, bite-sized option for a quick snack. Additionally, during certain times of the year, Popeyes features its popular $B>Flounder Fish Sandwich, which is a substantial, flaky fish filet served on a buttery brioche bun, providing a great alternative to the typical fish sandwich options in the city. When available, the $B>Surf N Turf combo provides the perfect pairing of shrimp and chicken for those who can't decide.
The Chicken and Sandwich Standard: While reviewing the seafood, it's impossible to overlook the items that built the brand. The $B>Signature Chicken is marinated for a minimum of 12 hours, ensuring the Cajun flavor penetrates every piece, while the $B>Classic Chicken Sandwich remains a gold standard in the fast-food space. These items provide a consistently seasoned, satisfying meal that is distinct from traditional fried chicken.
The Importance of Sides: At Popeyes, the sides are just as crucial as the main course. The $B>Red Beans and Rice is a cultural staple that offers a deep, savory, and comforting flavor profile—a much-loved side that sets it apart from typical fast-food offerings. Paired with a warm, flaky $B>Buttermilk Biscuit, these sides complete the Louisiana culinary experience. The savory $B>Mashed Potatoes with Cajun Gravy and the crisp $B>Coleslaw offer excellent contrasts to the rich, fried texture of the main courses.
A Final Note on Quality: Based on recent customer feedback provided publicly, there have been acknowledged lapses in execution at this specific location, impacting service speed and food quality consistency. As a professional review of the establishment, it must be stated that the quality of the Louisiana-inspired products and recipes are excellent when executed correctly. New Yorkers choosing this location should do so with the understanding that they may need to rely on the corporate brand's commitment to quality assurance, ensuring their next visit reflects the high standards the Popeyes menu is meant to deliver. Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Reviews
Worst customer service, bad food, and the worker that took my order has a bad attitude and gave us undercookedFood. when i approached the counter and showed him the food he took it to the back instead of switching it out for better ones he took the food refried it and even burnt it. Who know probably even spit on it. Worst place I have been to it wasn't worth the $50 + I spent today. I have gone to different Popeyes n I must say this one should choose better workers.
August 21 · Yajaira Tapia RamirezThis has to be the worst Popeyes experience I have ever had. There was vomit on the seats in the restaurant, a customer was openly vaping at a booth while they waited for their food, the wait was insane and the food itself was a disaster. The red beans and rice was not fully cooked, the sauce content on the chicken was laughable and the "wings" were not even wings as there was no bone in the chicken which I asked for. Also, I am quite sure that there was only one guy working both stations (register and food). If that is the case then I don't blame him, there is only so much one guy can do. But honestly that is the manager's fault for not hiring enough staff. The overall experience was not worth the $25 that I paid for the order.I normally have a decent experience at this place so I am quite surprised that the quality has gone down so much. I hope this changes really soon. Otherwise, I am never coming back to this location.
June 27 · Al -I Hate Google- XPHORRIBLE!!! They threw the potatoes into a bag without a box, the bun and chicken were all moldy!!!! The worker was arrogant, rude and impolite, 60% ice in the drink, disgusting, I will never come back here again!
August 04 · Masha RodionovaI ordered from this locations on two separate occasions. First off I want to say that I just moved from FL to NY back is December 2024. I have tried two other locations around Brooklyn and the food was nasty and the inside was dirty at the other locations so I haven't been back. I was in Coney Island and came across this location. The place was clean on both occasions and the food taste like what Popeyes is supposed to taste like. My problem is I ordered a 10 piece family meal mixed through the app and each time I get dark meat only. I was supposed to be waiting on biscuits but the ones I received was hard and cold. I don't know if they purposely do this but each time I should have been told that there was no white meat. I don't eat thighs and granted I should have checked my box before I left but they need to pay attention to the order. Eating out is too expensive for them to just be bullshitting around. They probably gave me all dark meat because I'm black lol just kidding.
October 01 · Johnnietta McClayToday i visit popeyes on surf ave in coney is i ordered a chicken wrap which i have no complaints about but the mac and cheese looked so nasty i was scared to eat it.
