When you visit Punjabi Deli, the best way to experience the menu is to choose a combo plate that lets you sample a few of their fresh and ready-to-eat dishes. A popular choice is a large plate of rice paired with a couple of the vegetable curries on offer, such as the Vegetable Samosas or Tandoori Roti.
The "Dish" section of the menu offers a flexible way to build your meal. A customer favorite is the combination of Tandoori Roti and two vegetable dishes, allowing you to sample the day's offerings, which often include staples like chickpea curry and spinach (palak). These are known for their authentic flavors and comforting, home-style preparation. The Vegetable Samosas are a great appetizer, and at just 50 cents, you can't go wrong. The Samosa Chat is another delicious choice, offering a flavorful mix of textures and spices.
Beyond the savory dishes, don't forget to explore the sweets. The Rice Pudding and Rasmalai are highly recommended for a satisfying end to your meal. The deli also offers a variety of snacks and baked goods that are perfect for a quick bite on the go. The entire experience—from the friendly service to the deliciously authentic and affordable food—makes Punjabi Deli a place that is not just worth choosing, but worth returning to again and again. It’s a true taste of New York's multicultural fabric and a culinary institution in its own right.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1For the price, the food is delicious, homey, Punjabi fare. No frills. Plus, the man behind the counter was very friendly and very kind. My food was packaged very well and I was sent away with warm, heartfelt blessings. There is counter space to eat at in the store, if you want to as well. This is a gem tucked away in East Village.
July 07 · Priya WPunjabi Deli is a vegetarian eatery. The ready to eat foods are on display. There's variety to choose from. The pricing is reasonable. One can eat in - standing or sitting (only 2 stools in a little corner). There is also a section selling kitchen seasonings and many (cheap and little portioned) snacks ( I ❤️ this!!)It doesn't look appealing on the outside, but it's worth the try. They have a lot of customers too!!
March 19 · weewee tanGood desi vegetarian food. Fresh food , flavor is definitely there. Got the chaney and daal with rice. He warmed it up and got no complains besides they should add labels of the items not just numbers.
June 12 · Alisha BVery interesting place. I was skeptical when i first heard about this Indian deli and turned out to be a very nice culinary experience. I didn’t know what to order, i just picked the large bowl of rice and two vegetables. I literally point what i wanted it. It was all delicious. I fully recommend the spinach dish, not very good looking but super tasty. Also the prices are great. And if you are worried about getting sick, don’t be.
