For New Yorkers seeking a true taste of the Caribbean and Latin American culinary traditions right here in Queens, the Rice & Beans Restaurant stands out as a dedicated neighborhood favorite. Located in Queens Village, this casual eatery specializes in a vibrant mix of "Dominican restaurant" and "Spanish restaurant" cuisine. It embodies the essence of hearty, flavorful comfort food that appeals directly to the local community, which it proudly serves.
The name itself, Rice & Beans, highlights the foundation of many iconic Latin dishes—a perfect pairing of staple ingredients that form the basis of the Dominican national dish, known as 'La Bandera' (the flag), which consists of rice, beans, and meat. This establishment offers authentic plates that feel homemade and satisfying. From classic "Beef Stew" and savory "Pepper Steak" to the ever-popular "Fried Chicken Chunks," the menu focuses on generous portions of expertly seasoned dishes at highly accessible price points.
Beyond the signature staples, the restaurant is known for its "Serves local specialty" options. Customers frequently praise their Mofongo, a delicious dish made of mashed green plantains seasoned with garlic and often mixed with pork. The inclusion of fresh, natural beverages like "16 Oz. Passion Fruit" and the option to "Create Your Own Juice" adds a refreshing, authentic touch to the traditional meal, making it a complete culinary experience.
Rice & Beans has become a reliable spot for every meal of the day, popular for "Breakfast," "Lunch," and "Dinner." Whether you’re stopping for a quick morning bite or ordering a full dinner spread for the family, the focus on straightforward, authentic flavor and convenience makes it a true Queens gem.

September 22 · Daniel PinoThis place is a hidden gem! Sometimes it’s a hit or a miss with flavor but overall the food is usually tasty. The only reason why I didn’t give the full 5 starts is because over the years they got stingy with how much food they put in the trays. The family meal has definitely decreased in size of the rice and beans . They used to pack the rice until the plastic cover can’t close properly but now, I barely have enough for me and my 3 year old to share.
June 23 · Ericka SThe food is good you can’t take that away from them but the customer service is non existent. The servers are the nastiest people I’ve ever met which is a shame because the owner is a nice guy. It’s not even worth complaining to the owner about because one of the servers is his daughter. Nothing will be done. Also the catering prices are a bit ridiculous. If you want good food with condescending attitudes and the occasional eye roll look no further.
