Romeo's Pizza Introduce
A cornerstone of the Franklin Square, Long Island community since 1971, Romeo's Pizza & Restaurant has been serving up authentic Italian cuisine for over five decades. More than just a local pizzeria, Romeo's has cultivated a reputation as a warm, inviting, and reliable neighborhood establishment. Founded out of a deep love for authentic Italian food, the restaurant continues its dedication to using quality, fresh ingredients in every dish, striving to make each meal a wholesome expression of passion for food and life.
Over the past five decades, Romeo's Pizza has blossomed from a humble pizza shop into a thriving Italian Pizzeria and Restaurant, offering seating that accommodates parties of various sizes—from a single diner to groups of 40. This longevity in the competitive New York restaurant scene speaks volumes about the quality of their food and the friendly, personable service provided by the two brothers who have run the place for years. For Long Island residents seeking a reliable, authentic, and cozy spot for Italian fare, Romeo's Pizza in Franklin Square stands out as a genuine local favorite.
The menu is extensive, offering far more than just pizza. Patrons can find a diverse array of appetizers, salads, baked pasta, heroes, and full entrées featuring chicken, veal, and seafood. Whether you are craving classic New York-style pizza, a hearty veal parmigiana, or delicious baked stuffed shells, Romeo's offers a taste of Italy right here on Long Island. This focus on variety and traditional Italian cooking is what keeps locals coming back, often multiple times a week, as noted by dedicated long-time customers.
The atmosphere at Romeo's is often described as classy, cozy, and casual, making it a perfect spot for various occasions, including family dinners, gatherings with friends, or a simple solo lunch. The inviting ambiance contributes to the sense of feeling "at home" that many customers report. However, it is worth noting that while the atmosphere is highly praised, the venue can become busy and even noisy on weekends, especially Saturday nights, a testament to its popularity.
For local residents in Franklin Square and West Hempstead looking for delicious, authentic, and well-priced Italian food with a friendly neighborhood feel, Romeo's Pizza is a destination worth exploring. The consistent quality, personable staff, and long-standing presence in the community cement its status as a local champion of Italian dining.
The cuisine highlights the dedication to traditional Italian recipes and homemade sauces. The focus is on preparing authentic, mouthwatering dishes with the finest and freshest ingredients. Their commitment to quality is what customers consistently praise, noting the delicious and authentic flavors of the food.
Customers frequently point out the excellent service as a key advantage, describing the staff as friendly, attentive, and very personable. This warm hospitality is a major part of the overall dining experience, contributing to a comfortable and welcoming environment. The commitment to high-quality ingredients and classic Italian techniques is evident across the menu, ensuring a satisfying and memorable meal.
The extensive menu selection ensures that there is something for everyone, whether you are in the mood for a quick slice of pizza or a full-course Italian dinner. The diversity of offerings allows the restaurant to cater to all tastes and occasions, reinforcing its role as a versatile local eatery.
While the food and service receive overwhelmingly positive feedback, with customers emphasizing the great taste and fair prices, there are a few practical aspects that new patrons should be aware of. The establishment is noted as a cash-only venue, which is an important detail for customers planning their visit. Additionally, the option to bring your own beverage (BYOB) is a distinctive feature that many patrons appreciate, as it allows for a personalized dining experience without extra fees. However, some long-time customers humorously advise to bring your own glass if you plan on enjoying wine.
The dedication to quality extends beyond the main dishes to the appetizers and sides, with the homemade sauces and popular Garlic Knots receiving special mention from customers. This attention to detail in every aspect of the meal contributes to the overall excellent reputation of the restaurant.
The pizzeria is clearly positioned as a place that is popular with the community, consistently drawing a crowd because of its delicious food. The business has a history of building strong community ties, having been a part of Franklin Square for a very long time, which fosters a loyal customer base and a sense of local pride.
For those planning a larger event, the restaurant’s catering service is readily available, allowing patrons to bring Romeo's authentic Italian cuisine to their next gathering. With seating options accommodating groups up to 40, it is also a great option for hosting events directly at the restaurant.
The overall feedback suggests that Romeo's Pizza is a well-established, highly-regarded local spot that delivers on its promise of authentic, high-quality Italian food in a welcoming, cozy environment. The friendly management and staff contribute significantly to the positive dining experience, making it a beloved choice for dining in or taking out in Franklin Square.
The menu's variety ensures that whether you're interested in a simple, well-made classic or a specialty item, Romeo's has you covered. The range includes numerous pasta dishes, hot and cold antipastos, and main courses beyond the usual pizzeria fare, highlighting its dual identity as both a pizzeria and a full-service Italian restaurant.
One piece of conflicting but useful customer feedback highlights the subjective nature of pizza preferences: while some customers rave about the pizza's flavor, describing the cheese as "phenomenal" and the crust as "perfectly baked, crispy," one customer found the cheese quantity overwhelming. This contrast underscores a key aspect of their pizza style—it appears to be heavy on the high-quality cheese, a detail that may appeal strongly to some New York pizza lovers while being less preferred by others. This information is valuable for users, as it sets expectations for the style of pizza offered.
The restaurant's long-standing success, spanning over 50 years, is a strong indicator of its enduring quality and popularity within the Long Island community. The dedication of the two brothers who manage the establishment further personalizes the experience, making patrons feel like a part of the extended Romeo's family.
In summary, Romeo's Pizza in Franklin Square is a venerable institution that offers an authentic, high-quality, and personable Italian dining experience. Its extensive menu, focus on fresh ingredients, and welcoming environment make it a highly recommended choice for residents across the New York region.

Romeo's Pizza Reviews
Amazing food and at a good price. The stuffed shells were delicious. BYOB. But if you're bringing a bottle of wine, bring a glass. Can't wait to go back. So many more things on the menu I want to try
July 29 · William DarmstadtThe pizza is....unusual, but not in a good way. The slice had too much cheese to the point of being stomach turning and very little sauce hidden under the "cheese." Within the hour, I had to drive to the nearest 7-11 to use the restroom to avoid an accident in my pants. If the owner is reading this, please focus on the prized ratio of sauce to cheese -- the amount of cheese is disgustingly overwhelming and the little amount sauce leaves a lot to be desired. If you wish to stick to your guns and continue making your "pizza" the same way, consider selling diapers to your patrons. Otherwise, five stars to both Service and Atmosphere!
August 18 · Tony MontanaRomeo, Romeo, where art thou? Are you looking for a nice Italian spot to eat close to home in West Hempstead? The food is delicious and the friendly attentive service was excellent. We started with crispy Mozzarella sticks and Antipasto salad. Ample and satisfying! They also served wonderful garlic bread. Our entrees of Grilled Salmon Oreganata were served with a garden of sautéed vegetables. Just scrumptious! And their Veal Bruschetta was topped with fresh Arugula, Diced Tomatoes, and Chopped Red Onions Mixed with Balsamic Dressing. It was refreshing and filling. We had no room for their decadent dessert menu but did take home a doggie bag!
