The frequent positive mentions in local online communities and high ratings from food critics confirm that Dario's is successfully bringing a new level of artisan quality to the neighborhood pizzeria model.
Many customers praise the attention to detail, such as the practice of "dressing" individual slices fresh out of the oven—a unique touch that involves adding fresh ricotta, grated parmesan, basil, and a drizzle of olive oil, showcasing a commitment to flavor and presentation not often found in standard pizzerias. This focus on premium finishing, combined with innovative specialty options like the Beef Birria and Red Pepper-oni pies, ensures that a visit to Dario’s is a culinary adventure, not just another quick meal.

This commitment to excellence in both ingredients and preparation is what keeps customers returning and drives its strong reputation as a premier dining spot in West Hempstead.
The restaurant's menu extends beyond just pizza, offering a thoughtful selection of other Italian-inspired items, including unique sandwiches served on homemade foccacia and various fried bites, which are Roman-inspired street food. When visiting Dario's Pizza, especially for the first time, there are a few menu items that consistently earn high praise and are strongly recommended by both the shop and dedicated customers. The regular cheese slice, often the benchmark for any quality pizzeria, is a must-try. Customers describe it as having a delicious, thin, and crispy crust with zero "flop," a perfect ratio of tangy sauce to high-quality cheese, and a fresh finish of basil and Parmesan. The commitment to perfecting this classic makes it a highlight.
For those seeking a more adventurous experience, the specialty pies are where Dario's truly shines. The Beef Birria Round Pizza, featuring shredded slow-cooked beef, arugula, caramelized onions, and a white sauce, is frequently cited as an "out of this world" topping combination. Similarly, the Red Pepper-oni Round Pizza, which balances spicy pepperoni with a roasted pepper sauce and the sweetness of Mike's Hot Honey, is a fan favorite for its complex and satisfying flavor profile.
Beyond pizza, the Chicken Vodka Sandwich is a highly recommended item. Served on homemade foccacia, it features a fried chicken cutlet, rich vodka sauce, stracciatella, basil, and shaved parmigiano, making it a luxurious and flavorful sandwich option. Other excellent choices include the imported Mortadella Sandwich and the Roman-inspired Fried Bites, which offer a taste of authentic Italian street food. Choosing from the house favorites ensures you experience the best of Dario's dedication to quality and innovative Italian cuisine right here in West Hempstead.

Dario's Pizza Reviews
Mushroon ricotta, birria, and a regular slice... Honestly all delicious... Would try again. I always judge a spot by their regular slice, while the crust is SUPER thin and has absolutely no flop its delicious. Fresh cheese on top... Worth the trip for me. I also got a lemon flavored soda from Italy and itnwas pretty good... Those 3 "slices" and the drink was about 20 bucks.... I went back a week later and just got a regular slice and it was almost 5 bucks. Its really good pizza tho
September 14 · Javier LopezI came to Dario’s after seeing it recommended on several Reddit threads as one of the top pizza spots in Nassau. I have to say, this one didn’t quite live up to the hype for me.First, the positives: The place is clean, with convenient parking and plenty of indoor seating. It’s definitely not a cramped little spot. They also offer outdoor dining, which is a nice touch. I liked that the unisex bathroom was tucked away and not awkwardly close to anyone's table.Service-wise, no complaints at all. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the overall vibe was pleasant. Now, onto the food — which is where I felt a bit let down. They’ve got a variety of options, which is great, but I was surprised they didn’t have a Sicilian slice on the menu. I tried the regular slice, the grandma slice, and a vegetable slice. All were… okay. Nothing terrible, but nothing memorable either. The crust on all three was a bit burnt, and the flavor overall just didn’t wow me. For about $15, it felt like I could’ve gotten a whole pie elsewhere with better taste.Maybe my expectations were too high going in, but I just wasn’t blown away. It’s not a bad spot — just not one I’d go out of my way for again.
April 13 · Ray BoldenI popped by Dario's Pizza during my run with my sister and they had a pretty large variety. I bought a square tomato pizza and the beef birria pizza. I'm not that big of a fan of their square tomato pizza because it's more acidic and less balanced but it was still a pretty good slice. The beef birria however was the best pizza I've ever had. I love the rich and perfectly balanced flavor. There is a sweetness that isn't too overwhelming. The pizza isn't too salty. With my experience with birria they tend to be pretty salty but I didn't have that on this pizza. What I didn't expect was that they actually garnished the pizza after, which just adds a touch of freshness to it. I often avoid going to pizza places because I get the feeling that they are just reheating food they've made but I love what Dario has done. Im also really appreciative that they had cut the slices in half without me even needing to ask because I was planning on sharing with my sister. However I was a bit disappointed with the service. After ordering, they put the two slices of pizzas in the oven and we sat down to wait. After waiting for a while the pizza was already sitting on the counter but they never actually got our attention to get or pay for the food. The food was probably already sitting out for a couple minutes and they should've definitely put more effort into getting the food to us. The whole experience was just a lot less warm than a cozy pizza place. When asking for recommendations the staff didn't seem as enthusiastic. The service isn't bad at all but there is a lot that could've been done to make this experience even better.
March 16 · Raymond LianExcellent pie, Red pepperoni pie. Lots of pepperoni on the pie. Can't wait to try another pie, Rice balls are excellent too. We'll be back. Went back again and had the round eggplant pie. Delicious. The char on the crust was perfect and the crust was excellent. They were slammed but were getting the orders out. I don't know why people don't like their pizza. One of the best tasting pizzas around. Try the bombolone. They're delicious.
April 19 · Chris InguantaSlices were actually what I anticipated had a Peperroni slice and a roman Slice. Crisp Crust, just like I prefer. They use the cup pepperoni which works well on Pizza! Highly recommend this place
