Saison Introduce
Saison, situated within the dynamic environment of Newark Liberty International Airport’s (EWR) Terminal C, presents a sophisticated, full-service dining experience that blends the traditions of a classic French brasserie with the quality expectations of a fine dining American steak house. Positioned in the secure zone of the United Airlines hub, this establishment is tailored to serve the high-volume crowd of travelers, designated by its 'Steak house' and 'Fine dining restaurant' types, yet maintaining a 'Casual' atmosphere for travelers.
The culinary concept, originally inspired by international culinary standards, offers a dramatic step up from typical airport fare. While its menu features the expected high-quality beef and seafood of a top-tier steak house, it is infused with French brasserie classics—a unique factual highlight. The restaurant is organized to provide maximum convenience for the time-constrained New Jersey traveler, listing **Fast service** as one of its key features. It is popular across all major meal periods, offering **Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, and Dinner**, ensuring that regardless of a flight schedule, a full-service dining option is available.
The ambiance is designed to offer a comfortable respite from the hustle of the terminal. The presence of a full **Bar onsite** and a comprehensive menu of **Alcohol, Cocktails, and Wine** caters to those looking to relax and unwind before or after a long flight. Its service model is structured around **Table service**, providing a more traditional restaurant feel, yet utilizes modern ordering technology (often through tableside tablets) to streamline the process, though this system has been noted by customers as having trade-offs in the human interaction aspect of service.
However, it is vital for New Jersey patrons to approach Saison with an informed perspective. Factual customer reviews indicate that while the restaurant provides a valuable service (full-service dining inside the terminal), it operates at a premium price point, with some food items, such as the avocado toast and basic breakfast plates, receiving sharp criticism for quality and perceived value, alongside reports of slow service and instances of staff being 'rude and dismissive.' The high cost, $15 for beers and $18.50 for a Mimosa, reflects its unique location as an exclusive service within a major transport hub, a reality all airport diners must consider.
Saison is located inside the secured section of Newark Liberty International Airport at **Terminal C, Brewster Rd, Newark, NJ 07114**. This makes it an exclusive amenity for ticketed passengers traveling through EWR's Terminal C. Its position is strategically important, serving as a high-end dining anchor in the terminal's culinary landscape, which is largely comprised of grab-and-go and quick-service spots.
As a public-facing establishment within a major New Jersey travel hub, Saison is fully committed to **Accessibility**, a key factual feature for all travelers. Its accessibility features include:
- **Wheelchair accessible entrance:** Ensuring easy entry and exit from the dining area for all patrons.
- **Wheelchair accessible parking lot:** While directly inside the terminal, the larger airport facility provides ample accessible parking leading to the terminal entrance.
- **Wheelchair accessible seating:** Guaranteeing comfortable accommodation within the dining area for customers with mobility needs.
The 'Crowd' is factually listed as **Tourists**, reinforcing that the primary clientele consists of travelers passing through New Jersey, seeking a premium meal or a comfortable place to engage in **Solo dining** before boarding their flight. The location is optimal for a final, high-quality meal experience before an international or domestic journey.
Saison provides a robust offering of services designed for maximum traveler accommodation:
- **Dine-in:** Offers a full **Table service** experience in a dedicated space, allowing customers to enjoy a multi-course meal from **Breakfast** through **Dinner** in a fine dining atmosphere.
- **Takeout:** Provides the necessary option for travelers in a rush, allowing them to order and quickly receive items to be consumed at their gate or on their flight.
- **All-Day Dining:** Open for **Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, and Dessert**, ensuring service is available across all core travel times.
- **Full Bar Service:** Features a dedicated **Bar onsite** offering **Alcohol, Beer, Cocktails, Hard liquor, and Wine**, with specific high-end offerings like $18.50 Mimosas, to cater to passengers looking to unwind.
- **Modern Payments:** Supports a swift payment process by accepting **Credit cards, Debit cards, and NFC mobile payments**.
The combination of classic table service with the demand for **Fast service** represents the restaurant's operational compromise in a high-traffic zone. While the service is fast, customers must be aware that the table-based technology ordering system may reduce traditional server interaction, a factual point noted in customer feedback.
Saison’s draw is centered on its distinct concept and premium offerings within the Terminal C landscape:
- **French Brasserie and Steak House Fusion:** Though marketed as a steak house, it is factually a **French brasserie** concept, offering a unique menu that includes both high-quality beef and classic French dishes like onion soup gratinée and hand-cut beef tartare, distinguishing it from other American steakhouses.
- **Full Fine Dining Experience:** Offers **Table service** and is categorized as a **Fine dining restaurant**, providing a rare level of meal service inside the airport environment.
- **Extensive Beverage Program:** Features a fully stocked **Bar onsite** with a wide selection of **Cocktails** and premium **Wine** options, catering to travelers seeking an elevated beverage experience.
- **All-Day and Solo Dining:** Popular for **Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner**, and specifically recommended for **Solo dining**, making it a flexible and comfortable choice for individuals traveling alone.
- **Exceptional Accessibility:** Provides full **Wheelchair accessible entrance, parking, and seating**, ensuring a comfortable experience for all passengers.
Despite these high-end features, potential patrons must be factually aware of the consistent customer feedback: the food can be **overpriced**, and service—while designed to be fast—is sometimes **slow**, with instances of poor customer handling. This information is crucial for travelers setting expectations; the premium is largely due to the convenience of the location and the quality of the raw ingredients (steaks), not consistently the service speed or perceived value of every menu item (like the highly criticized avocado toast).
For New Jersey travelers requiring information or wishing to contact Saison, the following details are available, though direct ordering is typically handled via the tableside system or in person:
- **Address:** Terminal C, Brewster Rd, Newark, NJ 07114 (Access is restricted to ticketed passengers in Terminal C)
- **Phone:** (866) 508-3558
- **Mobile Phone:** +1 866-508-3558
The provided phone numbers are a central point of contact for the terminal's dining establishments. The specific location requires patrons to be in the secure zone of Terminal C. Given the restaurant's utilization of an internal ordering system, the most efficient method for a traveler to engage with Saison is often by simply visiting the location during its all-day service hours. The acceptance of **NFC mobile payments** further highlights its commitment to rapid, modern transactions.
Saison is worth choosing for New Jersey residents and travelers who are specifically looking for a **fine dining, full-service** experience within the confines of EWR Terminal C. It is a worthwhile choice for its **Steak house** quality beef and its unique **French brasserie** menu (featuring items like beef tartare and onion soup), offering an exclusive meal that cannot be found elsewhere in the terminal. The extensive **Cocktail and Wine** list, complete with a full **Bar onsite**, makes it the premier spot for a sophisticated pre-flight drink. However, patrons should choose Saison with a factual understanding: they are paying a premium for the convenience of its location and the quality of its high-end menu items, and should anticipate a **casual atmosphere** with an emphasis on system-based ordering. It is best for those with time to spare who wish to indulge in a superior meal and beverage selection before their flight, accepting that the service pace may vary, but the quality of the primary offerings (steaks, alcohol) will be elevated.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1FIND THE AVOCADO QUIZ?Worst food ever! How can anyone mess up avocado toast? I should have seen the reviews before going here and it seems after consistent same reviews there is no improvement. It was a mildly warmed bread served with a drop of avocado spread and tone of mixed greens. When I asked them to give more avocado, I got the response that is how avocado toast looks like. You pay in advance of the order so there is nothing you can do about it. Overpriced and absolutely not worth it. I had to grab and go a bagel on they way as I just couldn't eat it. For anyone concerned if there are better restaurants ahead on this stretch, there are. Menu uploaded for Nonna's which seemed much better from what I noticed was getting served. Unfortunately I didn't have time left as I had to board and wasted my time at Saison.
August 04 · Supriya SahuOverpriced and poor service. My mimosa was not cold. Beers are $15. Food is mediocre. We waited a long time just to get water. Our server was kind and that’s why we gave an extra star. But service was slow and tables were not cleaned. Another staff member was extremely rude and dismissive. I’d rather just pay to go to a lounge next time even if it is just for an hour.
June 19 · Angel HsuFlight was delayed 8 hours so I thought I would splurge on a nice dinner. The French onion soup was spot on (highly recommend!) but the sea bass was so so (tasted more like trout and not sea bass). Service was friendly, not great and not at the level I would have expected for a high end (based on the prices) restaurant, even if it was at the airport.
April 27 · Good CapitalistExcellent food and atmosphere. Stopped in for some breakfast before my flight. The restaurant has a wonderful French cafe feel to it with lovely decor and comfortable seating and tables as well as a nice large bar with seating. Tried their eggs any way plate with a choice of meat and it comes with potatoes and toast and it was delicious. Eggs were cooked perfectly , light and fluffy and delicious with wonderful potatoes and Canadian bacon and toast and portions were large and filling. You get your money's worth. We also ordered their bagel and lox with a side of scrambled eggs and it came with a side salad. Bagel and lox with cream cheese was excellent and the eggs were perfect with a nice salad. Coffee was very good and not weak and it was wonderful. Service was fast and friendly. I Love the background music that fit the restaurant theme so well and made the experience very nice. Very pleased with everything. Loved it.
October 21 · LOR D⸻Saison – Abuse, Antisemitism, and a Cash Scam at a New York AirportWe had a humiliating and infuriating experience at Saison, located inside a New York airport.Tired and hungry before our flight, we ordered a simple meal:• Chicken Paillard Salad – $26.99• Avocado Toast – $22.99• Coke and Diet Coke – approx. $11.00The total, according to the printed menu, should’ve been around $66 with tax. Even with a generous tip, there’s no way it should exceed $80.But the waiter:• First claimed the total was $65• Then insisted on cash only, refusing card payment — with no signage or explanation• Took our $100 bill, disappeared, and returned saying the new total was suddenly $84• Refused to provide any breakdown or receipt when we asked why the amount changed• Became rude and hostileThe most disturbing part? His entire demeanor changed the moment he realized we were Jewish. What started as cold service quickly turned into open aggression and discrimination. This wasn’t just a billing issue — it was a blatant case of antisemitic behavior wrapped in a cash scam.We refused to pay and walked out without eating. This is how discrimination looks in a modern airport restaurant. To anyone passing through a New York airport: avoid Saison. If you’re Jewish — especially. If you value honesty and dignity — stay far away.
