## What is worth choosing
For New Yorkers and tourists alike who are looking for a bar experience that is far from the ordinary, Sake Bar Decibel is an outstanding choice. What makes it truly worth choosing is its incredible atmosphere. It’s not just a place to drink; it's a destination that offers a transportive experience. The "dystopian but in an interesting way" vibe, with its dim lighting and graffiti, is a major draw for those who appreciate a venue with genuine character. It feels authentic and lived-in, a welcome contrast to the many slick and sterile bars that dominate the city's nightlife. The music playlist is a key part of this ambiance, setting the perfect mood for a night of good conversation and great drinks.
Beyond the atmosphere, the product itself is exceptional. The bar's extensive sake selection is a playground for both novices and seasoned drinkers. For those who might be new to sake, the sheer number of options is an invitation to explore and find a new favorite. While one review noted a desire for more staff knowledge on flavor profiles, the bar's general vibe encourages a sense of adventure and discovery. The food menu is another reason to choose Sake Bar Decibel. The small plates are designed to perfectly complement the drinks, with unique and flavorful offerings like the Wasabi Shumai and Takoyaki that are often praised by customers. This combination of quality drinks and delicious food elevates the bar from a simple drinking spot to a great dining destination.
Finally, the speed and efficiency of the service, particularly for a place that is always busy, are a significant plus. While it might not be the best place to linger for hours due to its popularity and turnover, the prompt service ensures that your drink and food are always delivered quickly. The bar's acceptance of reservations is a thoughtful touch that helps patrons plan their visit, and the knowledge that there's usually a wait only adds to its mystique and reputation as a must-visit spot. For anyone in NYC looking for a unique, cozy, and high-quality bar experience with an edge, Sake Bar Decibel is an iconic East Village institution that delivers on its promise of incredible vibes, great drinks, and delicious food.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I enjoyed stumbling upon this cool and grungy sake bar. The vibe inside was dystopian but in an interesting way, though I have a feeling that if the lights were turned on it would be somewhat sobering - one of those ignorance is bliss kinda situations. The owner clearly bought a space no one else was interested in, plunged it in darkness, and made a bar out of it. I applaud his pluck. The menu had a broad selection of sake. I wish the staff were more informed regarding the flavor profiles of the items on their menu. I also wish that we had been served with traditional sake-ware instead of carafes and shot glasses. That all being said, I enjoyed the sake we bought, and the pricing was not too unreasonable. Also, be aware that as soon as you are done with your drinks, they will usher you out. Not a great place to sit and chat.
June 02 · Cyrus GhaznaviIncredible vibes and food. I started out with the sausage and sashimi; soy sauce and wasabi combination hit perfectly. But I couldn’t stop there. I followed that up with the chicken tenders and the wasabi infused shumai. I have never had that dish before and I’m an even bigger fan of wasabi now.Service was prompt, I was seated immediate, and the music playlist was 💯 (I actually asked the bartender what it was so I could find it later haha). Will definitely be coming back (likely ordering the same 4 dishes).
April 13 · ansarvikHidden away downstairs is a grungy looking bar when you first enter, it’s like a messy hard rock looking interior. Then you’re led further into the actual bar space which is a dark but pleasant dimly lit space. There are specific Japanese touches like the woodwork around us that made the ambiance very delightful to be in. Drinks menu was fairly good and tasted very nice. Great to be with some friends to laugh, chatter, and play games. Restrooms are located near the outer space and a bit small so be mindful when using them.
