Located at 37B Orchard Street, this small and trendy shop has perfected the art of deep-fried ice cream, offering a delightful treat that is both a visual spectacle and a flavor sensation. The core of Sam's Fried Ice Cream's appeal lies in its innovative approach to a classic dessert. The process, which customers can often watch from the counter, involves dipping a large scoop of ice cream into a thick, sweet batter, coating it with a crunchy crust, and then frying it to perfection. This delightful temperature contrast is a major highlight and is a key part of the unique experience. While there may be a few bumps in the road, such as occasional forgotten toppings or limited hours of operation, the deliciousness of the fried ice cream itself is what keeps people coming back. It’s a fun and quick visit that offers a sweet reward after exploring the vibrant Chinatown neighborhood.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Quite expensive for a little cup of fried ice cream and for how simple it is. They said they were out of chocolate but didn’t mark it on the board. An extra $1 for toppings is a little expensive in my opinion, but it is NYC so that’s expected.I ordered the cookies and cream with fruity pebbles and condensed milk. Seeing the drizzle of condensed milk they gave me I just had to laugh at how little they put on. But the breading is delicious and adds a nice flavor and texture with the ice cream. The ice cream stays cold even though it’s fried. The other people I went with were anticipating chocolate, so they were disappointed. They stuck with salted caramel and condensed milk which was simple. Then cookies and cream with powdered sugar. The powdered sugar was a late addition while he was putting it in the computer. When we received the ice cream they forgot the powdered sugar.Overall yummy and a nice sweet treat when walked around Chinatown. But I think there are better dessert places.Inside is small with seating. Their cooking area and everything is entirely behind the front counter. It’s cool to see them make it. Employees were friendly and nice.
April 29 · Jess PochekDelicious and wonderful different take on ice cream, but the shop is only open on Fri, Sat and Sun.The basic fried ice cream is a really big scoop of fried ice cream with a drizzle for $7 where you have 9 flavors (including 2 vegan, $1 extra), 4 crust and drizzle options. They also have 6 different toppings options for an extra 50 cents. They also sell just ice cream by scoop. We had the blueberry cheesecake ice cream and strawberry ice cream with regular bread crust and both of them were really good. The ice cream scoop is first dipped in a thick sweet batter and then crusted and fried in oil. The heat from the frying makes a nice temperature variation as you cut into it which is quite enjoyable and unique. The crust is thick enough that no oil enters the ice cream, keeping it delightfully great.
March 24 · Alan VargheseThis is such an Orchard street gem! The deep fried ice cream snacks are too real here. Love how it’s open late too. Some of the best fried ice cream I’ve had in my life. I really like the service here to their speedy and friendly.Definitely one of the best ways to end a New York City Orchard Street date. 😉 🍦 🌈
April 02 · Christopher Andrés NúñezThis place is small an cozy the decor is nice and the fried ice cream is utterly amazing I definitely recommend
May 26 · Brenda LeeLove this place I think I rated it before it's a hidden Gem in the lower east side of the city with it own set of new restaurant lounge's other stores on orchard Street very fun place to go for adults and if children earlier time. so the menu is like steps on how to order you pick the ice cream first then the topping you want around the ice cream which I picked fruity pebbles and they drop it in this huge deep fryer then pick the toppings which they charge 50cents for certain ones. I picked Carmel and whipped cream. All together it's comes out over $7. depending how many extra flavors you want. Then if your in there mood for fried Oreos you get 5 of them for for $6. This place is open everyday except Monday and Tuesday also opens at 3pm. I wish there was more of them a place to go for sure.Yes it has changed only the prices went up a little but still great place to go.
