★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Absolutely had a fantastic sushi omakase experience at Shota Omakase, with exceptional service provided by Chef Bo. Everything was incredibly pure and fresh—you could truly taste the quality of the fish, perfectly complemented by the special rice and just the right touch of soy sauce. The flavor was clean, balanced, and absolutely delicious. What I loved most was the simplicity. Each piece of sushi was crafted with minimal ingredients, yet the taste was extraordinary—so fresh, so flavorful. I thoroughly enjoyed trying all the different pieces, and not a single one disappointed me.Chef Bo was highly professional and clearly skilled, serving each piece at the perfect temperature, which elevated the experience even more. Thank you for the amazing service and unforgettable dinner 😄
April 15 · Min HanI’ve been raving about Shōta Omakase ever since we left—it was truly an unforgettable experience. I believe our chef’s name was Lin, and he was outstanding: super knowledgeable, engaged, and took the time to explain each cut of fish, where it came from, and how it was prepared. Everything we ate—from the fish to the wasabi, ginger, and soup—was incredibly fresh and made with simple, high-quality ingredients. My favourite pieces were the charred cuts. The service was next-level. The servers were incredibly attentive and pleasant. We left full and completely satisfied. Can’t recommend this place enough!
June 30 · KatherineAlways looking forward to discovering a unique Omakase experience. Shota Omakase didn’t fail, enjoyed the premium ingredient selection and basked in the awemazing service of the staff.
July 27 · angelica diyfor $195 per person with an automatic 22% service charge (meaning in total $250 pp), you can definitely go somewhere else more impressive.the food wasn’t bad.. some pieces were really good like the flounder, sablefish handroll with truffle paste and caviar and kinki fish.however, the majority of the courses were just okay and tasted normal. not amazing or great.the service was weird, especially for a michelin star. our chef kept speaking only chinese to the patrons next to us, even though I was chinese myself but he only spoke english to me. he also kept offering the patrons next to us free food like an extra slice of japanese melon and extra sake puddings, but offered nothing extra to my boyfriend and i even though it was also my boyfriends birthday. having gone to over 20 michelin restaurants in nyc, ive never experienced such blatant favoritism of customers. it just felt unprofessional. it also felt bad given we are paying a 22% automatic service charge. the chef also asked us multiple times if we wanted to take pictures of the food, which doesn’t feel classy. i don’t need to take pictures of every item for instagram. the waiters service was good though.the interior was also not that impressive. the lighting and black matte design choices look cheap. i could recommend a bunch of other places that are much better food wise, interior wise, and service wise. for example, although it is kaiseki focused, i went to tsubame for my birthday and it was much better, (although a bit higher priced at 225 pp). the experience was far better service wise, food wise and interior wise. overall, i left feeling disappointed.
July 20 · CassieThe space is clean and modern and staff are welcoming. The chef Anthony was super friendly knowledgeable! Fish are amazingly fresh rice was also really good. I grew up in Japan so I’m pretty familiar with sushi restaurants but even among those, Shota is one of my favorites!
