StEight has earned a reputation for being more than just a place to grab a drink. It's a sanctuary from the urban grind, where the ambiance is set by the soft glow of vintage lighting and the soothing sounds of vinyl records spinning classic tunes. The vibe is chill and beautiful, creating a space where conversations flow easily and every moment feels special. The bar's Japanese influence is evident not only in its exceptional sake selection but also in its decor, which feels authentic and thoughtfully curated. This sense of place, combined with a remarkable level of service, makes StEight stand out as a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a unique and memorable evening in New York City.
The magic of StEight lies in its ability to combine a hidden, "speakeasy" aesthetic with genuine hospitality and high-quality offerings. The bartenders are true masters of their craft—not just mixologists, but experts who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and creating personalized drinks. StEight is a true Lower East Side hidden gem, located at 116 Eldridge St, New York, NY 10002. Situated in a neighborhood known for its lively nightlife and diverse cultural scene, the bar's secluded nature makes it a desirable and exclusive spot. The discreet entrance behind the KUNIYA HAIR salon adds to its "speakeasy" allure, inviting guests to step into a completely different world from the street outside.
The location is easily accessible for most New Yorkers. It is a short walk from several major subway lines, including the F, M, J, and Z at the Delancey Street-Essex Street station, and the B and D at the Grand Street station. This makes it a convenient stop for a night out whether you're coming from midtown, Brooklyn, or other downtown neighborhoods. The unique entrance means you'll need to know where you're going, but a quick search for "KUNIYA HAIR" on your map will guide you right to the front door.
The bar itself is small and intimate, with seating for only about 12 people. This cozy size is a major part of its charm but also means there can be a wait for a seat, especially later in the night. It is a walk-in only establishment, so planning ahead for a weekend night is a good idea. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Glad we got to check out the OG of the sake bar speakeasies. Steight is tucked away behind a hair salon and it is so beautiful once you step in. Love the vibe, the ambience and the service is just as good. The cocktails we had were perfect for a night cap and we would keep coming back to this place for everything it has to offer.

August 17 · Tiffany VOne of my favorite recent spots for sure! Finding it is half the fun. It's a cozy and intimate space for fun Japanese-themed cocktails. Some favorites were the Sakura Smoke Old Fashioned and the Ma-Chet Baker. The staff is chill, super friendly and kind.
February 17 · Khoi PhamCozy hidden bar with just a handful of seats and a moody, vinyl-spinning vibe. The sake selection is the highlight for me. Bartenders are friendly and skilled. Nate is highly knowledgeable and makes great cocktails. Can be a wait as it fills up but the atmosphere makes it worth the wait.
August 11 · Eli EMy new favorite bar. It’s cozy and intimate. The bartender was knowledgeable about sake and set us up with a great sake flight. The cocktails were also delicious and well made. Definitely a gem.
