★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Very good Omakase at NYC. We order the 18-course and add a lot for our dinner. The fish is flown in from Japan. It was very fresh and expertly prepared. chef will talk with u through the whole meal and had incredible attention to detail. There will have a book for the fish texture and flavor. Have good service at all.
July 29 · Jing DiaoTraditional Omikase (chef's choice) Sushi experience with some of the best food we've had in NYC. We had the 15-course meals with a couple add-ons at the end of our dinner. The fish is flown in from Japan. It was very fresh and expertly prepared. Our chef led us through the whole meal and had incredible attention to detail. He quickly noticed that I'm left-handed and presented the pieces of sushi opposite of how it would be placed for a right-handed person. We were blown away with the service and quality of the meal.
June 24 · Reed FabekThe 15-course omakase we experienced was nothing short of extraordinary—easily the best we’ve ever had. While the service was impeccable (a solid 10/10), the food truly stole the show. Each bite was thoughtfully crafted and left us eager for the next, with every course blending seamlessly into the next.Standout dishes? The liver we began with, the aged tuna, the uni, and that incredible cardamom soup. Every element was unforgettable.Chef Ryan’s attention to detail made the experience even more special—he explained each dish with care, adding a personal touch that enhanced the meal. This was more than dinner; it was an unforgettable culinary journey, and I can’t wait to return.
December 29 · Sazeen Zaman*Hands done excellent omakase at a great price point for lunch*Makoto is a small very unassuming blink-and-you'll-miss-it restaurant. However, you must go. I went for their 15 piece lunch omakase and was surprised to see I was the only one there. Was great as it made it a more private experience. I've tried several omakases for lunch and this may now be my favorite.Off the bat you're given two different pieces over a crispy base with one the chef mentions to break up and mix in a bowl. This already is different from other places. Of course the fish is fresh as many melt in your mouth. What I enjoyed the most was having pieces of fish I've never heard of/had before that I haven't seen typically at omakases such as Isaki "Chicken Grunt" (damn good), Pacific Saury (beautifully prepared with a nice light seared flavor) and Needlefish. Each piece got better and better as I went on. They also provide you with a little book with a picture, description and bio of each fish you're about to devour making it a fun educational experience as well. I wish I had gotten the 18 course as that had barracuda which is very good so I could only imagine how Makoto would have prepared it. The sushi chef is really well trained and HIGHLY recommend this place. I can't wait to go back!
November 24 · Caiuscame to try their 15-course omakase, and it was amazing. The fish they served were so fresh. My favorites were striped jack, uni, Hokkaido scallop, and of course, king salmon! The uni was so creamy and delicious. The caramel pudding was tasty! They also gave a booklet with the names of all the fish being served. High-quality fish, high-quality service. I would definitely recommend it to my friends
