KOSAKA Introduce
Tucked away on a charming street in Greenwich Village, KOSAKA stands as a serene and elegant destination for those seeking an authentic and high-quality sushi experience in New York City. This Michelin-starred restaurant is not a place for a quick bite; it's a culinary journey rooted in the traditional Edomae style of sushi. Under the expert guidance of Chef Masatomo Soma, KOSAKA offers a meticulously crafted omakase experience that brings the serenity and allure of a Tokyo sushi bar to the heart of Manhattan. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere, with its dramatic lighting and sophisticated decor, sets the stage for an unforgettable evening of fine dining.
KOSAKA embodies a philosophy of simplicity and purity, focusing on the integrity of its ingredients. The fish, sourced daily from Japan and locally, is minimally embellished, allowing its natural flavors to shine. The dining experience is a showcase of the chef's precision and deep-rooted mastery, refined over decades of dedication to the craft. While the price point is on the higher end, KOSAKA is designed for those who value an intimate, chef-led experience, where every piece of sushi is a work of art and the service is as refined as the food.
KOSAKA is located at 220 W 13th St, New York, NY 10011, USA, in the picturesque and vibrant Greenwich Village neighborhood. Its location on a quieter side street provides a sense of exclusivity and tranquility, a welcome contrast to the bustling city. The restaurant is easily accessible by a variety of public transportation options, including subway lines that serve the 14th Street corridor. This central location makes it a convenient destination for a special night out.
As a premium dining establishment, KOSAKA does not offer public parking, which is typical for restaurants in this part of Manhattan. However, the neighborhood is very walkable, and its proximity to major avenues makes it easy to arrive by taxi or rideshare.
The service at KOSAKA is focused on delivering a flawless and luxurious dine-in experience. Due to its intimate and upscale nature, services are tailored to provide a singular, immersive culinary journey.
- Dine-in Only: The entire experience is designed to be enjoyed on-site, whether at the beautiful sushi counter or at one of the few available tables.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I eat omakase a lot and I’m really starting to believe that it’s not necessary to pay over 300 in nyc because of the options available. Although Kosaka comes in just u see 300 its a good use case. Can one sushiya be 3x better than the avg 100 option available? Possible, but it’s really difficult. Is that o-toro nigiri 3x better than any other place? Unlikely. Kosaka is a Michelin star sushiya with a very experienced chef soma steering the ship. What sets it apart: the appetizers, some creative dishes (the one with monk liver was amazing) and the service which was fine dining level and expected with a 1 star rating. The space is also very chic with dramatic lighting and a gorgeous sushi counter bar. So a very satisfying experience with excellent food quality but 3x better than your standard $100 options? Well, that’s up to you but I’d probably choose a cheaper spot and put t at extra money toward a better bottle of wine or sake. Verdict: will not return based on value only.
July 06 · Patrick KNice Sushi. Good value. Looking for a more jaw dropping impression that makes it stand out from other Michelin Sushi restaurants . The atmosphere has some modern Twist.
June 15 · N JKosaka is a Mich star omakase place in the village. There are many like it but this one is well appointed and the tables are spaced far enough from each other to give conversational privacy. The fish was delish and the service was elegant. Good sake list.
May 15 · Corky LuxembourgI don’t usually eat raw fish. But my partner convinced me to try it out. And surprisingly they are so tasty. They don’t smell fishy at all. Service was attentive and the space is cozy. Would highly recommended!
February 23 · Linh ClarkAmazing! From start to finish, the service and food was excellent. The sushi chef was a master and made each pieces beautifully. Each piece was well seasoned (not overly sauced), fresh and it was just perfectly made with care.It is quite expensive and we hope to go back for more. We've been looking forward to the dinner and they did not disappoint.Thank you.
